Safety doesn’t have to come from fear, it can come from confidence, trust, and calm awareness 🖤

Focus, patience, and intrinsic motivation aren’t taught through constant instruction, they develop when children are trusted to learn in their own time, without feeling rushed or compared.

It’s not always easy to step back. As parents, we want to help, to guide, to make things smoother, or even rush them out the door. But real learning, the kind that lasts actually happens when children feel ownership of their process.

Here are a few gentle ways to encourage that growth:

🌱 Allow time for struggle. It’s natural to want to step in, but waiting a few extra moments before offering help builds persistence and problem solving.

🌱 Focus on effort, not outcome. Instead of “You’re so smart,” try “You worked hard on that” or “You didn’t give up.”

🌱 Model patience yourself. Children learn self-regulation by watching the adults around them handle frustration calmly.

🌱 Trust their timeline. Every child moves at their own pace, mastery takes time, and rushing can actually slow confidence.

These are lifelong strengths that will support her far beyond these early years.

The long days, the noise, the chaos… they won’t last forever. One day, I’ll miss this version of them - the little hands around my legs, the endless questions, the procrastination at bedtime, the morning cuddles. Trying to soak it all in while I can 🖤

At this age, babies are busy building foundational skills and even the simplest games can boost their development in powerful ways. Don’t worry if your 5–6 month old isn’t sitting yet, you can play this game during tummy time too!

1. Motor skill development - Reaching for, grasping, and pushing the ball strengthens hand eye coordination.

Encourages fine and gross motor skills as they try to bat, grab, or eventually pass the ball back.

2. Cognitive growth - Helps them learn cause and effect (“when I touch the ball, it moves”).

Supports object permanence and attention span, since they track the ball’s motion.

3. Social and emotional connection - The back-and-forth creates early turn-taking skills, a building block of communication.

Eye contact, smiling, and giggling during the game reinforce bonding with you.

4. Sensory stimulation - The texture, color, and rolling movement of the ball engage visual and tactile senses.

Different types of balls (soft, textured, rattling) provide varied sensory input.

5. Early problem-solving - Babies experiment with how much force is needed to move the ball.

They start anticipating where the ball will go, building predictive thinking.

6. Language development - Talking, cheering, and labeling actions (“roll the ball!” “Catch!”) helps babies connect sounds with meaning. These playful exchanges nurture early communication skills and set the stage for future speech.

Our little morning routine with my two amazing humans. Holding it down solo for the next couple of months while their daddy is offshore working (can’t wait to have him home) ❤️ Enjoy 2.5 hours in 1 minute 🤣

In the shop today, a lady struck up a conversation. “How old is she?” she inquired with a smile. “Two,” I replied, expecting a shared moment of cooing at her. Yet, her response took an unexpected turn 🥴🙈

“Oh god, the terrible twos, terrible tantrums, it’s an awful age!” she chuckled. Myself and daughter both stood there with our mouths wide open 😮 I immediately went to her defense, making it loud and clear that two is wonderful and spending time with her is the best gift in the world.

Two, in my eyes, is not about being terrible; it’s about being authentically two. It’s those tiny hands exploring the world, the infectious laughter that echoes through the house, and the spontaneous hugs that melt your heart 🥹 It’s a very short time that invites you to slow down and rediscover the magic of play.

Its a stage of exploration, curiosity, and unfiltered emotions. It challenges you to see the world through their eyes, reminding you of the beauty in living in the moment.

So, instead of dreading the “terrible twos,” let’s change the perception of it - celebrate the quirks, the surprises, and the genuine moments that make this age extraordinary 🩷

Do you agree? Share if you do 🕊️

The fact that we question, wonder, and sometimes doubt if we’re “doing it right” means we’re invested in giving them the best of us. And that’s no small feat.

We strive for balance, even on the days when balance seems impossible. The difficulty we might be feeling now is the weight of all the love we have for our children - it’s the price of caring so much that you give everything you’ve got, even when there’s barely anything left to give ❤️‍🩹

Remember, too, that children don’t need perfection; they need us. They need our presence, our hugs, our words, strength, even when feeling weak. They will not remember the clean floors or the forgotten errands. They will remember the way we showed up for them, day in and day out, no matter how exhausted we felt.

So if you’re feeling worn out, overwhelmed, or wondering if you’re “doing enough,” know that these are the battles that only good parents fight. Hold on, keep going, look after your needs, and know this: you’re doing amazing. And it’s okay if some days feel harder than others. That’s what makes you a good parent 💖
