We’re proud to introduce Waterhaven Place’s Dementia Care Champions 💙
Congratulations to Stasia, Marie and Sam, who have all undertaken our Dementia Care Champion training and are helping to strengthen our commitment to outstanding dementia care.
The programme was designed to be practical, collaborative and reflective. Rather than simply delivering training, we spent time working together in breakout groups, exploring real experiences and asking an important question:
What does being a Dementia Champion really mean to the people who rely on us most?
Throughout the sessions, we explored and reflected on a wide range of topics, including:
• Our Memory Care Strategy
• Key legislation supporting people living with dementia
• The role and responsibility of a Dementia Champion
• CQC Quality Standards and what outstanding dementia care looks like
• Training and development within our homes
• The introduction of our Dementia Library
• Person-centred dementia care
• Different models of dementia care
• “The Story of My Life” – understanding each individual’s journey
• Becoming a Dignity Champion
• What meaningful support really looks like in practice
Most importantly, the sessions created space for our teams to share ideas, challenge thinking and strengthen their passion for supporting people living with dementia.
For us, dementia care isn’t just a training topic — it’s a commitment. A commitment to understanding, compassion, dignity and truly person-centred care.
A huge well done to Stasia, Marie and Sam 👏
The difference you will make in the lives of our residents, families and teams will be profound.
