⁉️It’s crazy isn’t it, that we should have so much judgment about the sound of our voice?
🤨And it’s not just about singing! You know that feeling when you hear your voice on a recording,
📣And you say, “is THAT what I sound like????”.
😳So many people are shocked when they hear their voice in the way that others do, and they can’t believe the way they sound,
😔And, so often they feel bad about it.
It’s another thing to criticise, like looking in the mirror and not being happy with what we see.
❓Yet, who wrote the rule book on what we SHOULD sound like?
Yes, if you want to be a pop singer, or an opera singer, or a musical theatre lead, then of course there are genre specific “rules” you need to adopt, as well as professionally train your voice, AND do loads of work, practice and so on.
🎶When I was a pro singer, I would often be singing between 6-8 hours a day. It was my job.
😐But generally, that’s not the norm, so what rules are we living by when we criticise our sound?
👉Here’s the thing;
👉When we start to work with our voice, we start to use it regularly, exercise it, listen back to it, grow it, cultivate it, nurture it,
👉we start to develop a part of ourselves that we didn’t think was possible.
👉Your voice is you, it is your creative energy, it is your means of expression.
😊Just by working with it more, YOU begin to change, because as you sound, it changes, it moves, it grows, it affects your physical body, your mind, your psychology, your spirit, your essence.
👏This isn’t about sounding and singing for anyone else. This is about building your voice as your creative expression.
⭐️And it is one of the most potent forms of healing and a pathway to personal development that I know.
⭐️I have seen such positive and happy shifts in people that have opened to their sound,
that’s why I made this my job.💙
Come and get to know your voice more deeply, see how it works, and have some fun with it in our workshop:
The Many Colours of the Voice for Healing - Sun 10th May at the Green Door Centre, Bosham, near Chichester, booking in bio.
No one has to sound alone and you can go at your own pace.
