I'm very much hoping that the cherry blossom tree in our garden isn't currently wonderfully aligned to the seasons because it's performing a final hurrah before leaving us – we've watched it struggle since we've been here and I've fed it over the years with my homegrown 'worm tea' (natural plant food from my wormery), until it's become a real focal point (not hard, as our garden is pretty small!) and is now letting its healthy, bright red leaves drop. This is such a beautiful time of year, watching the trees go through their autumnal evolution – there's something so magical about all the colours; it never gets old!

I'm always banging on to my children about the importance of a hearty breakfast – in our house Greek yoghurt, nuts, oats, eggs and fruit all feature in a big way in the morning. I appreciate this is not a one-size-fits-all scenario, but personally I find that feeding my body and my brain first thing gives me the energy I need to take me through to lunch and beyond. What's your breakfast of choice?

Whatever you're planning on doing with your pumpkins this weekend, remember that the seeds are absolutely beautiful roasted (and very good for you) and the flesh (that you are most likely going to be scooping out, right?) makes a very tasty soup if simmered with vegetable stock, carrots, potato, onions, cream – olive oil and croutons to serve. Yum.

Here at studio.life we offer full-length Reformer classes for all ages and abilities, taught by teachers with many years' experience. The resistance of the springs and pulleys builds strength in the core, which provides a foundation for the entire body. From there comes muscle tone, flexibility, improved posture, injury prevention, reduced stress, more focus... I could go on but why not come and see for yourself?

Harder to include when the weather starts to close in are the raw options, but I often find that bowls of colourful slices of things can be just as enticing, even as comfort food. Let's give a little nod to autumn – I've been trying to pay more attention to the colours nature's giving us at this time of year. The many shades of green, and the bright, primary colours of the summer, are slowly making way for all the warm bronzes, reds and golds. The air smells smokier, in a good way, and the sky seems to get a little lower at the edges. Time for a big forest walk!

The seasons are changing, summer is behind us and the moon is huge! I, for one, am looking forward to the clocks going back, watching the leaves change, lighting the wood burner, making hot chocolate to drink round the fire pit with my boys and getting stuck in to my new favourite thing – reading Dickens!
