Recent feedback I have received! ✨️

🦡🏼 I saw this patient last week following an unpleasant case of cramp in their calf which had started to effect walking due to the pain. To begin, I carried out an assessment of the area to rule out any nasties (checked over knee joint, achilles and soleus). Upon palpation of the calves I discovered the left head of gastroc (in affected leg) to be very tight.

We began deep tissue massage to help release any knots and to try and reduce the tension that had built up in the calf. To begin, I applied light pressure as there was a lot of tenderness. With time and patience we managed to get into some deep tissue massage and some myofacial release.

πŸ”₯❄️ I recommended using hot/cold therapy for the following few days, suggested some stretches and gave advice on the use of a foam roller and massage ball to help reduce/ prevent the tightness themselves.

πŸ’¬ I love getting feedback from those I treat. Especially when it is like this. It puts a smile on my face and reminds me why I started.

FYI - I checked with the person who sent me these messages before creating this post and they were happy for me to share the string of messages.

Yesterday I had my second to last physio session for my shoulder. I am now just over 7 months post op. I have stuck to my physio exercises no matter how tedious they have been at times, particularly during the early stages when I had very little range in my shoulder. Back in September if you'd told me I'd be doing this now I wouldn't have believed you. I was just out of the sling and couldn't even get my arm up in front of me.

I''m eager to get back to strengthening my shoulder now and this is a really challenging exercise for me, its engaging my core stability and applying pressure through my shoulder by having an unstable base of support.

Athletic taping for the Achilles.
Taping has many benefits, for achilles tendon ruptures using this method of taping after initial injury before heading off to a+e it helps to keep the tendon shortened and attachment points close together. This is a fan method taping technique keeping the foot in a plantarflexed position. In the picture you can see the tape has been bunched together, this is to replicate the achilles tendon.
