Chippenham Hospital Radio Our output is distributed around the hospital via wifi radios and can also be heard on-line via our website. Everyone involved is a volunteer.

Chippenham Hospital Radio aim's to provide a quality radio service which entertains and informs patients by enhancing their stay in hospital through the provision of request based programmes and local information. Our output around the hospital is heard by over 2,500 local people a month, made up of those on the wards, those who use the hospitals outpatient services and staff. Formed in 1982, the radio station went on-air in 1983 and became a registered charity in 1985. Members receive a comprehensive training programme before broadcasting, contributing to the high quality of the service. Chippenham Hospital Radio output is primarily based on Adult-orientated pop music (classics & current) and talk. Rap, heavy metal, heavy rock and some dance music is not part of the stations output. The service is widely recognised by healthcare professionals to contribute to the care package provided by hospitals, providing a comfort to those who are in hospital. Sadly, by way of an update, a 16-year-old boy who was stabbed in Chippenham on Saturday, has tragically died in hospital as a result of his injuries.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Our thoughts are with them at this time and we request that their privacy is respected.

The teenager was found injured in London Road shortly before 4pm on Saturday (31/01).

A 15-year-old boy was arrested shortly afterwards in connection with this incident, and remains in custody.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Darren Ambrose said: “This is a tragedy which has resulted in a young man losing his life.
“We understand the concern that this will have in the local community and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
“We have arrested a teenage boy in relation to this incident and our enquiries are ongoing.
“It’s vitally important that we hear from anyone with information about this incident or anyone who saw what took place.”
