This term we are looking at how to build your own yoga practice at home. Please bring a notepad and a pencil/pen to make notes if you wish. We are going completely back to basics to help you design a safe, easy to follow, and solid practice.

So many reasons to do those deep belly breaths….

We often talk about why a long exhale calms your brain. If you are a yoga practitioner, or simply a person who breaths, you may have experienced for yourself that taking a deeper inhale and exhale in yoga can send you to a deeper state of relaxation. However, new research finds there are more benefits to a deep belly breathing, or diaphragmatic breathing practice. A recent study found that the regular practice of yoga, which traditionally involves diaphragmatic breathing throughout, improves the parameters of diaphragm thickness.

Now, why is that important? Diaphragmatic breathing contributes to 80% of the volume of air you bring into your lungs. A strong, and thick, diaphragm is an integral part of the core musculature and helps the diaphragm be more effective. Further the diaphragm works in tandem with other core muscles to provide stability and maintain good posture, which can help prevent back pain and injuries.

Not only this, but the diaphragm plays a role in supporting the abdominal organs and regulating intra-abdominal pressure. Further aiding in digestion and gut health.

After a very relaxing week in Portugal, classes start back on Monday morning!

Yoga for All classes are focusing towards moon salutations, Gentle Yoga classes build in different self-care routines each week, and we have a new class starting on Wednesday’s at 9.30am working on improving balance and regaining confidence after a fall. £9 per class.

Yoga nidras on 20th Nov & 22nd Dec (5.45pm-7pm) will include vegan hot chocolate (herbal tea also available) followed by a super cosy meditation. Ideal for resetting your sleep patterns, reducing stress and anxiety. Just £10 per person!

Next terms classes are available to book now!

🌟 Yoga For All classes will be focused on working towards Moon Salutation practices on week 4 and week 8. With weeks in between focused on prepping hips, hamstrings and upperback/shoulder for the moon salutations.

🌟 Gentle Yoga classes are focusing on developing physical & emotional self-care adding additional skills to our ‘self-care toolbox’ each week.

🌟 Yoga for Balance will focus on gaining strength and improving mobility through yoga, Pilates and ballet movements. If you are worried about your balance, have suffered a fall or have knee/hip mobility issues, then this class is for you! No tutu required!

🌟 Yoga Nidra Sessions (aka Yogic Sleep) are deeply relaxing and allow you to explore a subtler side to yourself. Dates: 6pm 22nd Nov & 20th Dec.

Yay! Another class added to the timetable! Yoga For Balance on Wednesdays at 9.30am starts on 1st November. This is going to take all the best bits from Yoga, Pilates, and Ballet to improve your balance. So if your balance is a bit off, your walking is not as confident as it used to be, or you’ve experienced a fall then this is for you. Regain strength, mobility and confidence!

This weeks classes are exploring chakra 5, the throat chakra.
When this chakra is out of balance we can suffer from anxiety, stumble over our words or feel afraid to speak up for ourselves or speak our truth. We may also struggle to listen and hear others. Alternatively we may talk too much, talk over others or put your foot in it sometimes!
When we find balance at this chakra we can communicate clearly and fluidly, we speak our truth, we can hear and we can be heard.
