Eat well, move when you can, and do not let guilt ruin the best part, actually enjoying the food and the people you are with

Your Christmas food does not need to be perfect.
Before you panic shop for the biggest menu on earth, remember this.
A good Christmas table is not about perfection.

It is about
• Everyone being fed
• You actually being present
• One thing on the table you are excited to eat

If timings go off or something is slightly overcooked, it is fine.

People remember how it felt to be there, not whether the carrots were lined up.
And if you love leftovers, even better.

The smell that takes me straight back to being a kid
Every year the same thing happens

I pull a tray of roast potatoes out of the oven and suddenly I am eight years old in my mum’s kitchen

Noise, people everywhere, someone stealing a potato off the tray, someone shouting about gravy

No one counting calories, just proper food and everyone squeezed into the same room
That is what made me fall in love with cooking

Not perfection

You don’t need to earn your Christmas dinner.
If you have worked hard all year, you do not have to justify enjoying food.
Stop treating a mince pie like it needs to be paid for with punishment.
Here is the truth. Guilt does more damage than food ever will.
You can enjoy Christmas and still stay balanced.
Walk a bit, drink some water, throw a few greens on your plate, and still eat the dessert.
You have earned your rest. Just do not lose yourself in it.
