This World Diabetes Day, Diabetes UK are challenging the stigma surrounding diabetes and encouraging people to reflect on how they talk about the condition.

Diabetes UK found that, across the UK, over 8 in 10 people with type 1 and over 7 in 10 people with type 2 diabetes say they experience blame and judgement for their condition. It is important that we are all conscious of how the things we say impact others, because our words matter. Together, we can and help improve the lives of those living with diabetes.

To mark Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, our residents have taken part in memorial services across the country to honour those who served and continue to serve our country. For many of our residents, these dates hold personal significance and provide the opportunity to not only honour their own past, loved ones and friends, but also share memories of such an important part of their lives.

🌟 Community Connection Spotlight! 🌟

As you may have seen from our recent posts, our residents have been thoroughly enjoying their visits to Chipping Norton Bowls Club, where they’ve been learning new techniques and improving their bowling skills! 🎳💚

Our wonderful Home Manager, Lynne, is not only an active member of the club but also volunteers her time to support its events and members, a true reflection of her dedication both inside and outside our home. We’re also proud to sponsor the Bowls Club, helping to keep this fantastic community sport thriving.

This past Saturday, Lynne was delighted to attend the club’s Annual Awards Dinner, where her own mentor, Linda Boyd, was named Ladies Single Champion! 🏆👏

Every week, our Tea at 3 brings together residents and staff to enjoy a lovely afternoon of tea and a chat in our beautiful bistro. It’s always such a joy to see everyone come together!

This week, we’re especially proud to be supporting a wonderful local business Pink Salt Shed, a charming café right here in Chipping Norton. Their delicious treats and community spirit fit perfectly with our values of togetherness and local support. 🍰✨

Last week, we enjoyed a fantastic visit from Lottie and her animals from Zoolab to celebrate World Reptile Day!

We had a wonderful time learning all about her fascinating creatures. Lottie added a fun Halloween twist by sharing myths and legends connected to each unique animal. We discovered that the royal python gets its name from Cleopatra and that some people once believed a gecko’s head was hollow, as shining a torch through its ear would make the light come out the other side! 🦎🔦

Introducing Baby Rachel!

As many of you know, our fantastic Activities Assistant Amy left us just over a month ago to welcome her beautiful baby girl. Today, she surprised us with a visit, bringing along her very special guest, Rachel!

You can see from the photos how much joy and heartwarming moments it brought our residents to spend time with Baby Rachel. Visits like these highlight the importance of multi-generational connections, where love, happiness, and shared experiences flow between generations.

Congratulations to our incredible Amy, and a huge welcome to the world, Rachel! We can’t wait to see you both again very soon.
