We are again looking for donations for our Easter raffle prizes. Easter eggs, chocolate, wine or alcohol or anything we could use for prizes will be gratefully received.
We are planning our Easter party on the 2nd April at 2pm with Steve entertaining us, we are having an Easter Bonnet parade, a decorated Easter egg competition and lots more planned, all welcome to join us .
We also have a name the Lucky duck card in the home £1 a number and £50 for the winner, see staff if you would like a number.

February employee of the Month is Allannah. Allannah is a valued member of the Wansbeck team working as both Domestic and care assistant, she is hard working, flexible stays late if needed and picks up extra shifts. Her confidence has grown since she started last year and she has built up a wonderful relationship with residents and staff. She truly deserves to win this this month.

Welcome to the newest member of Wansbeck Leah one of our wonderful Domestic team is currently on Maternity leave. she visited with 7 week Ellie who is absolutely gorgeous. The ladies really enjoyed meeting her especially Nurse Adams who used to be a midwife and has delivered hundreds of babies in her time as a nurse. we cant wait for Leah and baby Ellie to visit again to meet some more of our ladies and gents x

Our February display, we asked residents and staff what love meant to them and made a display with the answers. most of the men said not a lot until we discussed further then we got some lovely answers. Most agreed family and friend meant the most one said their dog, another lady with Dementia just said her husbands name when we asked her. it was a lovely afternoon of chatting and reminiscing

We celebrated 17th Feb which was Chinese New Year and Pancake Day with a wonderful home made Chinese meal with prawn crackers and fortune cookies followed by pancakes with a choice of toppings, as you can see by the pictures these went down very well with cleared plates and lots of happy faces

The wonderful John Fletcher visited us again and as well as fetching his Olympic torch for us to see he also did a wonderful rendition of various songs including Imagine by John Lennon, Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond and loads more which went down very well with us all thanks again John and look forward to seeing you again soon

Our great friend John Fletcher visited the home on Tuesday to entertain us. He also brought his Olympic torch from the 2012 Olympics when he was honoured to be a torch bearer for his efforts in raining money for the children cancer trust. he started his run at lamppost number 079 at the Queens Head in Tynemouth and met a few famous people on the day including Steve Cram and Brendan Foster. he was allowed to keep the torch along with some other souvenirs from the day, when checking out of interest on eBay a torch from the same time along with the tracksuit they also received was selling for £35,000. the residents were honoured to hold the torch and were fascinated by the story John told us

January employee of the month for Wansbeck Care Home is Danielle Johnson. Danielle was voted for by her colleagues and friends in the home to win the monthly award and I think she looks happy to have won. This competition is held at the end of each month where every member of the team can be voted for from home manager to maintenance and kitchen to carer. Staff, residents and families can vote for the staff member who has made them smile, given that little bit extra or simply just been there when it mattered. I have a fabulous staff team who all deserve an award so let’s get voting for February’s winner Danielle wins a beautiful bouquet of roses a posh bottle of fizz and a box of Belgian chocolates. Well done Danielle 👏🎉💖

We had two lovely ladies and their Sugar Station visit the home on Friday with a selection of good old fashioned sweets, cards and gifts for our residents to purchase, residents, staff and families enjoyed checking the stall out and having a chance to pick out their favourite sweeties to munch after lunch. the added bonus of one of the ladies having a baby also went down very well :)
