Most back pain isn’t caused by damage.
That’s the part that surprises people.
Scans often show nothing serious…
But the pain is still there.
Because it’s not always about injury.
It’s about how the body is coping.
Adapting.
Compensating.
Holding tension.
The body is trying to protect you…
But sometimes that protection becomes the problem.

Wednesday – feeling the strain
Thursday – pushing through
Friday – running on fumes
Saturday – finally relax 😌
Sunday – the body crashes…
I see this pattern all the time.
People push through stress, tension, work, and life all week…
Then when they finally slow down…
That’s when the body starts to feel everything it’s been holding.
Tight shoulders.
Back pain.
Headaches.
Fatigue.
It’s not always one single thing causing the issue…
Sometimes it’s the build-up over time.

The pain isn’t always the problem.
This is something I see all the time.
Someone comes in with back pain…
But the issue might be coming from the hips.
Shoulder pain…
But the tension is coming from the neck.
Headaches…
But the body has been under stress for weeks.
The body is constantly adapting.
It compensates.
It protects.
It shifts load from one area to another.
So where you feel pain…
Isn’t always where the problem started.
That’s why I don’t always work directly on the painful area.
It’s about understanding how the whole body is connected — not just chasing symptoms.

Short answer…
YES. A lot.
Today alone… 3 people were gone.
Not just “resting their eyes”… I’m talking full-on:
• Little snore here 😴
• Deep breathing there 😌
• That “where am I?” look when they wake up 👀
And honestly… I take it as a massive compliment.
Because what’s actually happening is:
Your body finally switches off.
Your nervous system drops out of stress mode.
And for once… it feels safe enough to just let go.
No effort.
No forcing.
No “trying to relax.”
It just happens.

One of the things people often notice during treatment…
Is that I don’t always work directly on the area of pain.
And there’s a reason for that.
The body works as a whole system.
Where you feel pain isn’t always where the problem started.
For example:
• Lower back pain can be influenced by hips or legs
• Shoulder pain can link to the neck or posture
• Tension can build up from stress, not just movement
The body adapts and compensates over time.
So sometimes, working on the source — rather than the symptom — can make a bigger difference.
It’s about understanding how the body is connected…

Your body doesn’t just rely on nerves to communicate.
It has multiple ways of “talking” to itself.
One of those is through the fascia — the connective tissue that runs throughout the entire body.
When fascia is moved, stretched, or loaded, it can create tiny electrical signals.
This is known as the piezoelectric effect.
It’s one of the ways the body responds and adapts to change.
Not just through nerves…
But through movement, pressure, and subtle signals within the tissue.
Over time, patterns of tension, stress, or compensation can influence how these signals travel through the body.
Which is why sometimes the focus isn’t just on the area of pain…

I often get asked how I use Reiki alongside Bowen.
For me, it’s not about anything complicated.
It’s about awareness.
Over time, you develop a feel for the body.
As I work, my hands often guide me to areas that feel different — areas of tension, imbalance, or restriction.
Quite often, these match exactly what the client has described…
And sometimes they highlight areas the client wasn’t even aware of.
It helps me build a clearer picture of what’s going on in the body.
Then, after treatment, I can often feel a difference.
The tissue feels softer.
More settled.
Less reactive.
It’s not about “fixing” anything with my hands.
It’s about listening to the body… and noticing how it responds.
Everyone’s body is different, but it’s always interesting to feel how things change during a session.

It creates vibration through the body.
When you speak, hum, or sing, those vibrations travel through tissue — including fascia.
Fascia is highly responsive to movement, pressure… and even vibration.
That’s one of the reasons why things like:
• Deep breathing
• Humming
• Singing
• Sound
…can sometimes have a noticeable effect on how the body feels.
It’s not about anything extreme.
It’s simply another example of how connected and responsive the body is.
Small inputs…
Can create meaningful changes.

One thing I know can sometimes be a concern for people — especially women — is coming to see a male therapist for the first time.
It’s completely understandable.
You don’t know what to expect.
You may feel a little unsure.
And that first step can feel like the hardest one.
That’s why creating a space where people feel comfortable, respected and at ease is always my priority.
I take the time to listen.
