If you have a sudden eye problem, you may be able to use an Urgent Eye Care Service.

🔎 What is it?
An Urgent Eye Care Service provides quick assessment and treatment for sudden eye issues. This is not a routine sight test, but a service for new or urgent symptoms.

⚠️ Symptoms covered include:
• Red or painful eye / eyelids
• Recently occurring flashes or floaters
• Sudden or recent loss of vision
• Foreign body in the eye
💊 For very minor symptoms, you may be advised to self-care or visit your local pharmacy first.

❗ Please note:
This service does NOT cover ongoing management of major eye conditions such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, or glaucoma.

📊 January Triage Update – Whittle Surgery
In the month of January, Whittle Surgery received and dealt with 3,227 triage requests.
This included:

• 2,745 medical requests
• 482 administrative requests

📊 Did You Know?
The national average for triage requests is 135 requests per 1,000 patients.
In comparison, Whittle Surgery’s average in January was 276 requests per 1,000 patients — more than double the national average.
This highlights the significant demand on our services and the volume of requests our team manages each day. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue working hard to support all our patients. 💜

📢 January Appointment Update – Whittle Surgery

In the month of January, Whittle Surgery offered 4,869 clinical appointments to our patients.

Unfortunately, 79 patients did not attend (DNA) their appointment, which resulted in 1,185 minutes of valuable clinical time being lost. This is time that could have been used to support other patients who needed care.

We would also like to thank the 645 patients who cancelled their appointments in advance. By letting us know, you allowed us to offer those appointments to other patients in need — we really appreciate it.

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer the time to someone else.
