Landing a job in occupational health nursing can sometimes be tough when you come from a different nursing background, and employers are asking for experience. Our tutor for the Diploma in Occupational Health Practice, Lynda Bruce advises: Find out where occupational health practices are in your area by searching online. Get in touch with them and introduce yourself, letting them know that you are a registered nurse who is seriously considering a career in OH. Ask to shadow one of their OH Practitioners (and add in a caveat to sign a confidentiality agreement). By doing this, you can see if its something you want to do and commit to. If your experience with them goes well, there is a good chance it could end in a job offer.

The Diploma in Occupational Health Practice is perfect for any nurses who want an introduction to occupational health. Last minute bookings are being taken for our pilot course starting next Friday 10th October.

Did you know that mental health issues and musculoskeletal-related disorders accounted for 46% and 32% respectively of new and long-standing cases of work-related ill health, according to the HSE's H&S at work statistics 2024.
These types of issues can be found throughout the entire workforce, from office staff to safety critical workers.
With this in mind, it is important to consider the health of your entire workforce, not just those in traditionally 'physical' job roles.
