We had a big event over the Easter weekend - the baby of the family is officially a teenager! The reason I’m sharing this is that looking at photos I also realised how much she is growing at this stage of her life. These photos show just how much she has grown since our holiday in Florida at the end of October 25 - in less than 6 months she has caught me up from being a good few inches shorter than me 😱 This is crucial to recognise if you have a sporty child! Lois plays a lot of netball and also swim trains 6.5 hours a week. Children are not small adults and if they are not coping with what they are doing then you may see several warning signs
• Frequent viruses or sore throats.
• Slower growth rate.
• Poor sleep quality.
• Decline in enthusiasm for previously enjoyed sports.
• Delayed, irregular or lack of periods in girls
• Decreased motivation in boys.
• Irritability and mood swings.
• Stress and anxiety.
• Fatigue.
They also need to eat enough for their activities as well as accounting for normal teenage growth and development and if they don’t get the right amount of recovery they won’t train or perform optimally and are at greater risk of injury and illness.
