The NI childhood immunisation schedule is changing giving even better protection with the introduction of the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine.

As with other childhood immunisations, parents will be contacted by their GP surgery to arrange an appointment if their child is eligible. If you are unsure if your child is up to date with vaccinations the easiest way to check is to look at your child’s red book or speak to your health visitor or GP.

You can contact your GP practice online, as well as by phone or in person.

An online form – on their website or in the NHS App - is a quick and easy way for you to send your non-urgent symptoms and requests to your GP practice.

Tap it, type it and we’ll take care of it. Find out more ➡️ nhs.uk/GPOnlineForms

If you're aged 50-74 you will receive an NHS bowel cancer kit every two years. Remembering to do your home kit reduces your chance of getting seriously ill from bowel cancer, so if you receive a kit in the post, don't put it off, put it by the loo 🚽

Click to Find a Pharmacy
A community pharmacy is a great first port of call for advice on minor health issues and medicines.
Many pharmacies have extended opening hours and no appointment is needed. They have consulting rooms if you want to talk to someone in private about your symptoms.
They can offer treatment and advice for things like:
• aches and pains
• allergies
• bites and stings
• colds and nasal congestion, sore throat or flu
• cold sores and mouth ulcers
• constipation
• cystitis
• dry/sore eyes
• ear of headache
• emergency contraception (morning after pill)
• nappy rash and teething
• skin irritations and acne
• sprains
• stomach upsets and diarrhoea
• sunburn.
Pharmacists are highly qualified healthcare professionals and can also advise on whether another NHS service is required.
For more on community pharmacies and where to find them, click www.nhs.uk, use the NHS app or the ASAP Glos NHS website and app.
