Our second Tortoise Chasing the Hare session this week 🐢

This is where our Nordic Walkers from the Tortoise Club put all their hard work into practice—building confidence on uneven ground, learning to navigate mounds safely with poles, managing narrow paths, and improving balance through better weight shifting and technique.

There’s real joy in discovering the stability of three points of contact with Nordic Walking poles—it’s a game changer for confidence and freedom of movement.

Our Tortoise Club sessions truly make a difference. They’re designed for anyone who finds walking challenging—whether due to Parkinson’s, neuropathy, joint replacements, weight management, reduced confidence, or simply wanting to feel steadier and safer on their feet.

Evie runs three Tortoise Clubs across the Stroud district—and they work!

Come and join us and feel the difference for yourself 💚

All sessions are based on the INWA 10-step Nordic Walking technique. Come and be part of the club ❤️.

Great numbers across all 3 sessions today. Nordic natter had our first Tortoise crossing over to our steady walking session with huge success! Then we held Tortoise Club in Bussage and followed it with Tortoise Club in Cainscross. Our Tortoises are doing so well, huge improvement of walking style, balance and stability. 5 of today’s Tortoises have Parkinson’s and are in Nordic walking heaven!!

There’s something about Nordic Walking....

It clears your head.
It changes your mood.
It makes movement feel lighter and more natural.

You arrive tired. You leave steadier, calmer, and more yourself.

It is not always about speed or distance. It is about rhythm, breathing, and being outside. Time to think or time to switch off. Shared steps or quiet space. Some days it is the exercise. Other days, it is the headspace.

Many people say the same thing once they start.
“I didn’t realise how much I needed this.”

If Nordic walking has given you that feeling, you’re not alone. And if you are curious but have not tried it yet, there is a reason so many people keep coming back to it.

Sometimes movement is not about doing more. It is about feeling better.

70 miles. One pair of poles. No excuses.

If you’re lining up for an ultra, a multi-day charity walk, or pushing your limits on long-distance trails, your legs should not be doing all the work.

Nordic walking poles change the game.

More propulsion.
Better posture when fatigue kicks in.
Reduced load through the knees and hips.
Consistent rhythm when the miles start to bite.

We’re not talking about a gentle stroll. We’re talking about a serious distance. The kind where every small advantage matters.

In this blog, we break down exactly why Nordic walking poles are coming to a 70-mile ultra, and why endurance athletes are adding them to their kit list.
