In our Life Skills workshop over the past few weeks, the focus has been on holidays.
Service users have been learning about passports and had the opportunity to create their own replica passports. We also explored the essentials required for travelling, including what to pack and what items they would like to bring with them.
To further support reading development, we worked through a variety of stories centred around holidays and experiences abroad. To conclude the theme they designed their own postcards as though they were on holiday, writing messages to loved ones.
We then took a walk together to post these, providing a meaningful and practical end to the project.🏖️🗺️

Would you consider attending an open day at Oaktree in the near future?
At Oaktree, we understand how challenging the transition from school to day services can be. Our aim is to ensure that this transition is as smooth and supportive as possible for both individuals and their families. We already offer induction programmes where students attend alongside their school; however, we would also like to extend our support to parents and carers.
Our open day will provide an opportunity to meet with managers, Summer and Sarah, who will offer a guided tour of our facilities. During this visit, we can discuss how we can create a personalised package of care tailored specifically to your family member’s needs. This is also an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and to gain reassurance about the next steps after leaving school.
Do you have a child who is approaching the end of their school journey and are you exploring post-school placement options?
➡️
Oak Tree offers a supportive and engaging environment designed to help young people transition confidently into their next stage of life.
💙
We invite families to book a visit with us, where we can provide a guided tour of our facilities, explain our service, and discuss the support we offer to young people and their families following the completion of school.
☺️
We provide a wide range of workshop-based activities and develop personalised support packages tailored to each individual’s needs, interests, and goals.
❤️
Please contact us to arrange a visit or to find out more about how Oak Tree can support your child’s next steps.

In our life skills workshop, and in keeping with the Christmas period, we focused on developing practical skills such as wrapping presents and creating handmade Christmas cards using sewing techniques.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed taking part in these activities, and there was a great sense of enjoyment and engagement throughout the sessions.
