Did you know there are many different types of dementia?

Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies are four of the most common forms of dementia, and they can all affect people differently.

This is our guide to a few of the most common symptoms for each illness.

Dementia looks different for everyone, so a person’s symptoms may not look exactly as they are described here.

However by knowing the signs, we can make sure that we don’t brush off or ignore some of these lesser-known symptoms, to help everyone with dementia get a crucial early diagnosis.

Save this post for later, and if you’d like more info visit our website or give our Dementia Support Line a call on 0333 150 3456.

We got our week off to a good start at Billington and Langho Community Centre this morning with Outdoors 4 All Together , with a Burns Night celebration. We did some Scottish themed drawings on wood cookies, and ate delicious haggis, neeps and tatties whilst listening to a Scottish playlist, culminating in a rendition of Auld Lang Syne. Our group meets every Monday from 10.30 till noon and is open to those with dementia and/or their carers.

Did you know tomorrow is Penguin Awareness Day? Well, you would have done if you had been at our Friends in Nature session this morning with Outdoors 4 All Together at Billington and Langho Community Centre 😁🐧🐧. We also enjoyed making our own quesadillas, labelling them with edible ink for Glen to cook for us. This group is aimed at those with dementia and/or their carers, and runs on Mondays in term time from 10.30 till noon. No referrals needed.

We've been at Billington and Langho Community Centre this morning with Outdoors 4 All Together for our Friends in Nature group, for people with dementia and their carers. Bit of beading, a sausage butty and catching up on conversation ❤️. Always a lovely start to the week. We'll be doing it again next Monday from 10.30 till noon.

We don't normally advocate colouring in the tablecloths, but it is Christmas 😁. Our lovely volunteer, Liz, demonstrated how to make a Christmas wreath and we did a draw for it, won by Jean. We had a lovely buffet courtesy of Flavours Cookery School, whilst a brass sextet played Christmas carols. Huge thanks to all our staff, volunteers and musicians! Our dementia group returns on Thursday 8 January from 10am at West Bradford Village Hall
