🪑💢 Sore back from sitting all day?
You’re not broken—you’re just stuck in one position too long. But here’s the good news: you can reverse it. ✅

Try these Physiotherapy-approved tips to reduce back pain caused by long hours at your desk:

1️⃣ Move every 30–60 mins – Get up, stretch, walk. Even 2 minutes helps reduce spinal pressure.

2️⃣ Spinal mobility exercises – Do cat-cow stretches, Thoracic wall openers, and pelvic tilts daily.

3️⃣ Fix your workstation – Feet flat, screen at eye level, and lumbar support = pain prevention.

4️⃣ Walk or do light cardio daily – 20–30 mins of walking boosts circulation and loosens stiff muscles.

🎯 These aren’t just quick fixes—they’re evidence-based strategies used in physiotherapy to keep your spine strong and pain-free.

🧠📚Last year I had the opportunity to take my research on patella tendinopathy to the annual Charted Society of Physiotherapy conference where it was presented and recently published. Contributing to the evidence allows me to provide my patients with the most up to date and effective treatment approaches.

🏃‍♂️Patella Tendinopathy (a.k.a. Jumper’s Knee) — What You Need to Know 👇

Struggling with pain just below your kneecap, especially when running, jumping, or going downstairs? You might be dealing with patella tendinopathy — a common condition affecting both the general population and active people, especially those participating sports like basketball, powerlifting (squatting), or running.

🔍 What is it?

Patella tendinopathy is degeneration or overload of the patellar tendon — the thick band that connects your kneecap to your shin. It often develops gradually and worsens with activity.

🚫 What doesn’t help?

❌ Complete rest
❌ Passive treatments alone (like ice or massage)
❌ Ignoring it and pushing through pain

✅ What does help?

✔️ A progressive loading program (especially isometric and eccentric exercises)
✔️ Activity modification — not stopping, just adjusting
✔️ Patience and consistency — tendons need time!

💡 Physio Tip:

Rehab is about building load tolerance — not avoiding movement. A tailored strengthening plan will get you back to the things you enjoy and more resilient.

🦵If your knee pain is holding you back, we can help guide your recovery with the right plan — at the right pace.

Think rest is best for back pain?
Think again!

🤥 MYTH: “If your back hurts, you should lie in bed and wait for it to get better.”
👨🏻‍⚕️TRUTH: Too much bed rest can actually make things worse.

📚Research shows that lying down for days can lead to:
❌ More stiffness
❌ Weaker muscles
❌ Slower healing
❌ Even more pain

What helps instead?
Gentle movement, done safely. Short walks, light stretches, or guided exercises help reduce pain and get you back to doing what you love — sooner. 💪🏻

And that’s where physio comes in.
We’ll help you:
✅ Understand your pain
✅ Get moving at your pace
✅ Build strength and confidence
✅ Prevent it from coming back

Your back is stronger than you think.
Motion is lotion — don’t let fear keep you still. 🏋🏻‍♀️

☀️Now the sun is out it means running season is upon us! 🏃🏻‍♂️

Running? Your muscles are working way harder than you think!
❓Did you know that some leg muscles—like your soleus (deep calf muscle)—can produce up to 8x your body weight in force during a run?
That’s like lifting a small car with each step! 💪🏻

This power is what keeps you moving forward and absorbing impact.
But when these muscles are weak or overworked, it can lead to common issues like shin splints, Achilles pain, knee injuries, or back strain.

Strong muscles = safer, smoother running. ✅
Not sure where to start? Physio can guide you through targeted exercises to build strength, reduce injury risk, and boost performance.

Hi 👋 My name is Peter Zegveldt and I have been specialising Sports Rehab and Physiotherapy for eight years. I knew I wanted to work in this field since I was a teenager, after I experienced a serious knee injury - two surgeries and extensive rehab later meant I had to rethink my love of playing football, but it also brought about a passion for delivering exceptional and tailored physio. I learnt firsthand the challenges injury can bring and this has shaped my approach as I have become a qualified Physiotherapist.

My ethos is physiotherapy should be centred around promoting confidence and giving people the tools and knowledge they need to get back to doing the things they love, safely and to the best of their ability.

➡️ How can I help you? ⬅️
I can offer practical advice and physio support to anyone and everyone.

If you are suffering with any physical injuries, back pain, shoulder pain, any based pain (wrists etc.), if you are post op and need some further support, if you’re trying to get back to work or a sport you love, and if you’ve been diagnosed with a neurological condition, such as and - I have the expertise to work with you to meet your goals.
