🔴SHOULDER HEALTH🔴

Here’s something that the majority of people can do for free to help improve your quality of life.

Whilst it might be tough during lockdown 3.0, get yourself outside and get your health in check! ☀️ 🍑

Just a reminder of some of the amazing benefits from getting a little uncomfortable and sweaty whilst running during the lockdown:

Overtime running strengthens the walls of the heart, which increases its overall efficiency.

Maintaining a healthy weight! Overweight or obese people are at a higher risk for heart disease... So take control of your life! 💖

Bone health, regular running helps improve and maintain the density of your bones, reducing risk of osteoporosis. 🦴

Endorphin release, helping to destress and reduce anxiety and depression levels. Gives you that feel good factor 😊😊

The list goes on...

‼️SQUAT WARMUP‼️

Banded goblet squats are an effective exercise to through into your lower body warmup days.

By holding the kettlebell anterior to the body allows you to keep your torso upright and engage your posterior chain muscles to keep your torso upright.

Adding in the band above the knees, helps to activate the glutes as it forces you to drive your knees apart when going through the squat movement.

Give it a go and move better! 👍🏼👊🏼🙌

Just a friendly reminder...

Whatever stresses that may have come your way today, just take a step back and give yourself a little break, and JUST BREATHE!

Breathe in. Breathe out.

Destress yourself and bring calm into your day!

Don’t be a cranky B*****d!! 😠😡🤬

Why not make improving your movement quality a main focus to your training during Lockdown 3.0?!

Instead of jumping around your living room until the February half term, gain more from your training by improving the way you move.

As gyms are closed and equipment is limited, increase difficulty to your workouts by playing around with tempo work instead of doing high volume reps.

Remember the goal for training should be to gain strength and improve movement quality, not to just burn calories!

Doing fewer reps with purpose and quality is more beneficial than doing 100’s of reps with poor form!

🔹CORE CONTROL🔹

Side plank rotations are an awesome movement to incorporate into any warmup.

The movement focuses on core control and shoulder stabilisation.

When performing make sure to find a comfortable position with your feet, whether it be one on top of the other or one in front of the other.

Also make sure to move at a speed that allows you to keep balance throughout the movement.

The stronger you get at these, the more rotation you will be able to achieve.

‼️INCREASING INTENSITY‼️

A superset, performing 2 exercises back to back, is an effective way to increase intensity in your workouts.

Supersets save time by reducing the rest interval between exercises, which leads to you being able to perform more work in less time. Supersets also allow you to increase intensity of your workout by overloading a muscle.

Popular superset variations:
🔹Same muscle group - compound/isolation exercises (chest press/chest flyes)
🔹Opposing muscle group - compound or isolation exercises (bicep curls/tricep push down)
🔹Lower body/Upper body - compound exercise focus (back squat/bench press)

‼️RETHINK WARMUPS‼️

For the majority of you guys out there, you will have a limited range of equipment available to you during Lockdown 2.0.

Why not incorporate exercises like this ⬆️⬆️ into your home warmup routines.

Quadruped shoulder taps are awesome for working on shoulder stability, core engagement, quad activation and overall general body awareness.

When performing make sure to take your time, balance yourself and stay in control of the movement.

‼️MOBILITY‼️

Why it’s important...

Doing mobility training/exercises on a daily basis can significantly improve your range of motion, help identify and improve muscle imbalances within certain joints and prevent injuries from occurring.

An individual who has optimal mobility levels can be seen performing exercises correctly with good form.

‼️GENERAL MOBILITY‼️ is probably even more important, as the older we get the more likely we are to start developing illnesses and diseases like osteoporosis, diabetes, arthritis etc.

Things we can all do to prevent this from happening:
🔹Move more
🔹Physical activities
🔹Strength training
🔹Eating sufficient protein
🔹Sufficient sleep

Look after yourself NOW so you don’t have to rely on others to get you out of bed or wipe your arse for you!!
