Our guest today is James Field.
He is a researcher and consultant currently based in the Thai-Myanmar border. He is a keen advocate of peace and UN development goals.
Here he talks about finance, geo politics, travel and his outlook on life.
He shares some nuggets of wisdom and his habits in this podcast:
“The thing with expectation is that when we don’t reach it, we end up frustrated and get depressed about how little I have achieved. And that’s not how I want to live.”
“You have to live in the present. If you are always focused on something abstract and different, you’re going to be losing your capacity to respond in the best ways possible”
“I meditate every day in the morning so that I am not disrupted in an emotional sense.”
“I love my own company. I have spent a lot of time traveling and following my own curiosity.”
” It’s very difficult to find yourself when you are in a crowd. Your emotions become a mirror of the emotions of the crowd, you become less of an individual.”
“I am big believer that the environment you are in shapes how you act. It’s important to reflect on what’s around us because it is going to impact us in a certain way and we have to respond to it.”
‘’Your WHY for living your life has to be stronger than the environment around you”
