We’re continually inspired by the kindness and generosity shown to St Helena Hospice.

🧡 Ella and Jessica held a very special fundraising day on World Cancer Day, raising an incredible £1,320.69, shared between St Helena and Prostate Cancer UK - both causes close to their hearts. We are so proud of what they achieved!

🎟️ Members of Colchester Lodge 31 (Women’s Freemasons HFAF) presented a £500 cheque, raised through a Memoriam & Raffle in memory of a much-loved member of their Lodge.

🏃‍♂️ Thank you to Simon who braved the Colchester Half Marathon and raised £165 in support of our hospice!

🎓 A huge thank you to the students at Helena Romanes School and Sixth Form College, who raised an incredible £3,829.10 through their creative and inspiring fundraising efforts.

🎤 1st Class Brass donated £700 from their festive Christmas carol performances in local supermarkets - we’re so grateful for your continued support.

🛞 Perfectly demonstrating it's never too late to say a big thank you... in August 2025 the Hospice received incredible support from those at the Fordham Vehicle Show raising £1,124.55, it's just taken a short while to align diaries to organise a celebratory photo and we were lucky that the sun was shining for the occasion.

🔎 Another wonderful £900 donation raised by StH's Metal Detecting supporters - Henry, the groups youngest member was very proud to unearth a Saxon coin.

Your support truly makes a difference to the patients and families we care for every day. From all of us at St Helena Hospice, we thank you. 🧡

"Our hospice nurse at home does exactly what she says she's going to do and that's what we need. She just goes off and does it and it’s golden.

"Unless you're living it, you'll never understand the difference that makes. And it really makes a huge difference, massive."

“When St Helena scooped us up as a family, the magic started. The care my mum received, and the support we were given as a family, was just exceptional. Seeing how hard everyone works, it was an easy decision to leave a gift in my Will” - Kate Heslegrave, Co-Chief Executive. 🧡

Gifts in Wills help fund the care of 1 in every 5 people receiving end of life and palliative care from St Helena Hospice.

"I went to see Neil at the Hospice every single day. I got in one morning and a lovely lady said she had me booked for a neck massage and some aromatherapy. I said I think you’ve made a mistake honey, I’m not the patient. ‘Oh no, it’s for you,’ she said.

"Do you know the care the relatives receive at St Helena is just beyond description?

"They didn’t have to worry about me, but do you know how much I appreciated it? She gave me this neck massage and I actually fell asleep.

"And they did Neil’s feet and I watched them doing Neil’s feet thinking what wonderful people you are. You’re taking his mind off the inevitable. And Neil loved having his feet tickled or massaged. All these lovely little things."

'Who needs superheroes when I have my mum' 🧡

Mother and son, Nichole and Oliver, joined in our Hero Run last year and had a brilliant time together. Super Nurse Nichole said:

"My son Oliver was eager to join me, wanting to show how proud he is of his mum and the work I carry out on a daily basis as a hospice nurse alongside my colleagues.

"Together we ran as a mother and son team honouring the hospice’s work, raising awareness and celebrating the impact compassionate care has on local people."

With two weeks to go until this year's Hero Run on Sunday 29th March, there's still time to sign up for a fun 2k, 5k or 10k. To quote Bowie⚡"we can be heroes, just for one day!"
