Today’s day 1 of the First Aid at Work course is covering the new guidelines.

Over the half term break, young carers from West Young Carers took part in hands-on First Aid training — and they were fantastic! 💚

Thanks to the brilliant team at ATH Training, our young people learned essential life-saving skills, including:

CPR – how to keep a heart beating during an emergency ❤️
Bandaging – how to treat wounds with care and confidence 🩹
Choking response – what to do when every second counts 😮‍💨

They even practiced CPR to the beat of “Stayin’ Alive” and “Baby Shark”! - The perfect tempo makes all the difference when doing chest compressions. 🎶

These sessions are a brilliant way to help young carers feel more prepared, capable, and confident in difficult situations. A big well done to everyone who took part!

Today we had the pleasure of visiting a local Primary School to deliver young hero Avah-Rose with an award.

This followed her mum suffering a seizure at home less than 2 weeks after we attended the school and delivered a days training to all students. Avah-Rose was able make sure her mum was still breathing once the seizure had stopped and placed her into the recovery position to maintain a clear airway whilst she called the emergency services.

Avah-Rose was able to remain calm and take care of her mum until paramedics arrived.

Paramedics informed mum that had Avah-Rose not acted then it would have been a different outcome and she had saved her mums life!

Well done Avah-Rose, you can be extremely proud of yourself.

2 weeks ago, we visited a primary school to provide some training to the whole school as part of their curriculum.

One child had to use the skills learnt after their mum suffered a seizure at home, calling an ambulance and placing her into the recovery position until the ambulance arrived.

We don’t just teach workplaces, but what we do teach helps people when they need it most.
