The Dental Studio Marks 20 Years—and Says Thank You to Our Patients
COLCHESTER, Essex — 24 November 2025 — The Dental Studio is celebrating two decades of caring for local families, and the team says the milestone belongs first and foremost to its patients. Their trust, loyalty, and word-of-mouth support have shaped the practice from a single surgery into a four-surgery, award-winning centre of care.
From the earliest days—when the practice earned Best New Company—to national recognition as Best Team in the UK, the Studio’s successes have been powered by patient confidence. Practice principal Stephen was named Best Young Dentist, while the team has repeatedly been recognised as Best Team in the region.
“Every accolade we’ve received is really a thank-you back to our patients,” said Stephen. “You turned first appointments into lifelong relationships. You’ve recommended us to friends and family, welcomed our trainees, and helped us grow with purpose. We are deeply grateful.”
From One Surgery to Four—Built on Patient Trust
What began as general dentistry now delivers orthodontics, advanced restorative and aesthetic dentistry, and facial aesthetics—with endodontic specialists, implantologists, and sedation services being introduced so patients can access even more advanced care close to home. That evolution has been guided by what patients asked for and needed over the years.
Growing People, Thanks to Patient Support
As a training hub for Essex University, the Studio has helped educate over 100 hygienists—experience made possible because patients welcomed learners into their care journey. Apprenticeships have become careers: Janine Green progressed to practice manager; Steph Hutton served patients as a hygienist for 14 years; Helena Crow continued her clinical path with the team; and Zara Wilson moved from apprentice to qualified hygienist. Each story reflects the patience and encouragement shown by the community.
Giving Back—Powered by the Community
Together with patients, the team has raised thousands of pounds for charities—especially cancer research—through events including a charity garden auction. The Studio also helped enhance local play spaces, sponsoring the build of the playground on Mill Road, Mile End, and supporting the design and delivery of the playground near North Station. These projects are a tangible thank-you to the neighbourhood that has supported the practice.

With education always front and centre, The Dental Studio’s public-health advice has featured on BBC Essex and ITV Anglia News, while Stephen’s commentary has appeared in national and local press—including the Daily Mail and the Colchester Gazette—extending prevention messages to a wider audience.
Prevention First—and a Call During Oral Cancer Awareness Month
The Studio’s hygienists champion prevention because oral health is inseparable from overall wellbeing. Over the years, the team has detected oral cancers early, helping to save lives. During Oral Cancer Awareness Month this November, patients are encouraged to book checks and to act promptly on persistent mouth ulcers, red or white patches, unexplained lumps, or hoarseness lasting more than three weeks.
