Imbolc is a cross quarter festival that celebrates the reawakening of Earth after winter at the beginning of February. It marks the first day of spring; a time for listening to our intuition and inner wisdom that we have gained throughout winter for new life, growth and action as we move further into the year. It is the perfect time for manifesting your dreams and breathing life into your plans.
Now, the days are beginning to get longer, and there are signs of the Earth waking up. Bulbs are starting to push up through the Earth, birdsong can be heard and the Sun's energy beings to increase. We re-emerge after the incubation period of winter. What dreams have you carried through the dark months? Plant your seeds of ideas and allow them to germinate. Lay a good foundation, start planning and allow the divine spark of inspiration to be ignited in you - your inner fire will burn bright with insights, aspirations, creativity and vision.
Create a simple altar for Imbolc, with a yellow cloth and a vase of early spring flowers. Add a white, yellow or green candle for focusing on dreams, aspirations, visions for coming season. Use crystals for such as amethyst or turquoise for growth and include a dragon or snake for inner wisdom and renewal of life force energy. Celebrate and honour Brigid - the Goddess of fertility, healing, arts and poetry with your own creations of poetry, writing, painting, crafting or drawing.
