The Oaks care home in Colchester provides expert, warm, person-centred care for up to 61 older people who require dementia, nursing or residential support. Thereβs always a full diary of fun social events and activities, thanks to our dedicated activities co-ordinators. Mealtimes are carefully planned with delicious, fresh food cooked on-site and our fully trained, friendly team of carers and nurses are on hand 24/7, whenever needed. The home is spacious and with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, bedrooms are beautifully decorated, while the coffee lounge, cinema lounge and open-plan dining room offer the perfect place for you to relax or socialise in. We have the added benefit of being surrounded by large gardens and well-manicured lawns, which were created by award winning gardener, author and lecturer, Beth Chatto.

β€οΈ Our Valentine's Day Party β€οΈ
We had an absolute blast earlier this week celebrating the love in our hearts! With a delicious spread and great music as always (thank you Andy) we partied the afternoon away!
It was such an energetic atmosphere and thank you to all who joined in!

We absolutely love seeing them come in on Thursday mornings; animal interaction is so beneficial to our quality of life π

π Enjoying some table air hockey - Oaks style! π
We built our own air hockey table using our library and some egg cartons - always resourceful!
There were lots of laughs and it was a good exercise too πͺ
We're always looking for more games to try out - if anyone has any suggestions let us know!

In the morning we made some collages using anything and everything we could get our hands on βοΈ followed by an afternoon of fingerpainting! βοΈ
Meanwhile another group of our residents took part in our weekly Quiz π§ - keeping those brain cells singing and dancing!
The messier we get, the more fun we have!

We were able to celebrate Burns' Night in style at the weekend, though next year shall be featuring some authentic too!
The residents absolutely loved it, and the music could be heard all through the home for everyone to enjoy π

This morning we started gearing up for Burns' Night by baking some delicious shortbread! π₯£
In the pictures you'll see how we gradually got messier...and messier! But we had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the taste test fresh from the oven π
