Earth Hour starts at 8:30pm on Saturday 28th March 🌍

Spend 60-minutes doing something positive for the planet, whether it's planting seeds in your garden, switching off the electrics to reduce energy consumption, walking to the shops instead of driving to reduce emissions, feeding the birds and the squirrels or cooking up your leftovers to reduce food waste, take your pick!

Visit www.earthhour.org for more ideas about how to get involved this year!

International Day of Forests 🌳

Saturday 21st March is a reminder to take care of our environment and protect our forests, also known as Earth's lungs!

We can protect our forests by reducing pollution for cleaner air and consuming less animal products, as agriculture contributes heavily to deforestation, habitat loss and a lack of biodiversity.

Did you know that walking a 1.5-mile journey (approx. 30-mins) instead of driving saves around 3 trees, that's 6 trees for a round trip and if you did this 5 days a week for your regular commute that's 30 trees a week! It all starts to add up...

🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳 (30 trees)

The Big Walk and Wheel 2026 πŸšΆπŸΌπŸ‘©β€πŸ¦½πŸš΄

Walk, Wheel, Cycle Trust (formerly Sustrans) are hosting the annual Big Walk and Wheel event from Monday 16th to Friday 27th March 2026

The event inspires school pupils to make active journeys to school, improve air quality in their neighbourhood and discover how these changes benefit their world 🌍

Big Walk and Wheel is open to all primary and secondary schools in the UK, including SEN/ASN/ALN schools. It is free to take part and there are daily prizes to be won!

On each day of the challenge, schools compete to see who can get the highest percentage of their pupils walking, using a wheelchair, scooting or cycling to school. Your school’s best five days will determine your final position, but you can log journeys on all ten days if you wish.

Find out more and register your school here:

Woodland Heath 🌲 Travel Information Packs are on their way to their new homes.

We update our packs every now and then to ensure residents are receiving up to date travel information when they move in. For Woodland Heath, that means shouting about the improved konectbus City5 service which now has two bus stops directly serving the site, with more frequent buses and new evening services, helping people step away from relying on their cars.

We also took this opportunity to update the local amenities map, as there are a lot more Beryl bays in the local area! πŸ›΄

Other updates include the latest EV stats from Zapmap, revised Greater Anglia train timetables, details of the new Mobilityways app and the potential savings of car sharing, promotion of our Travel Plan Coordinator services, tailored travel incentives and much more.

As always, thank you to Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes for your ongoing support as we continue to deliver Travel Plan measures for Woodland Heath 🌲

January is Walk Your Dog Month 🐾

A fur-iendly reminder to maintain your dogs routine walkies throughout winter, not only for your companions health and wellbeing, but yours too!

A brisk 30-minute walk 5 days a week (or around 22-mins 7 days a week) ensures you're meeting the minimum NHS recommended exercise goal of 150 minutes a week, and helps fight the winter blues by improving brain function, especially helpful if you spend your days starting at screens!

Walkies also provide your professional sniffer with mental enrichment, ensuring they are happy and healthy πŸ•
