Oaks Hospital is one of Essex's leading private hospitals with an excellent reputation for delivering high quality private hospital treatments and services. Located on the outskirts of Colchester, the hospital opened on this site in 1994 and currently has 57 bedrooms including three twin-bedded rooms all with en-suite facilities to ensure complete privacy throughout your stay. Staff are friendly and professional and respect individual patient needs at all times. Oaks Hospital has a tradition of working closely with Consultants and patients to ensure the best quality healthcare is consistently being delivered. All Consultants undergo rigorous vetting procedures, ensuring only those who are qualified and experienced are granted practising privileges which are reviewed on a regular basis. Today, we recognise Richard, our porter of over 22 years, as he leaves Hospital for his next chapter.

Throughout his time with us, Richard has demonstrated unwavering dedication, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to every corner of the hospital. His expertise across countless portering duties—and his genuine care for both colleagues and patients—has made a lasting impact on our team and our community.

It’s hard to imagine our daily routines without his steady presence. His reliability, wisdom, and willingness to always go above and beyond have played a vital role in keeping the hospital running smoothly.

🌳 Team Oaks Tuesday Shout Out! 🌳

Today we’re celebrating Cheryl, whose dedication truly keeps Oaks Hospital thriving.👏

As our IPC Lead, Cheryl is a visible force across the hospital—working closely with clinical and facilities teams to keep our environment safe and aligned with national guidance. She recently led us to Bronze ANTT accreditation and is already driving us toward Silver and Gold this year!

📚 Teaching is central to everything she does—whether in classrooms or on the wards, she’s always there to support and guide.

💉 Alongside IPC, Cheryl works with Occupational Health to ensure staff are fit for work, vaccinated, and supported to keep their hands healthy for patient care.

🛡 She also serves as our Adult Safeguarding Lead, responding to concerns across the hospital and working with patients, families, and external agencies to protect those who are vulnerable.

Cheryl embodies our People Caring for People motto every single day.

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to our newest team member at Oaks Hospital — our new Ward Sister Hawa, who joined us in December!

With a strong background in the Emergency Department, she brings exceptional experience in acute care, leadership, and working within high‑pressure clinical environments. Her ability to stay calm, focused, and deliver excellent patient care makes her a fantastic addition to our surgical ward team.

In her new role, she will be leading and supporting our nursing team, coordinating day‑to‑day patient care, and helping us continue to deliver safe, high‑quality care to all our patients. She is passionate about teamwork, maintaining excellent standards, and creating a positive experience for both staff and patients.

We’re absolutely delighted to have her on board and look forward to all she will bring to The Oaks Hospital Team.
