Our Story
Yogababe was set up some 10 years ago as an antidote to my busy working life and stresses of bringing up young children. Yoga continues to help me (and my kids) stay grounded and can be weaved into our rigourous day-to-day lives! I love teaching Yoga as it can be adapted to suit anyone at any stage of life, bring harmony to the body, mind and soul no matter who you are, lifestyle or bodyshape. I aint no instagram yogi - you can’t take pictures of what Yoga feels like within. There is an old quote - someone tell me who said it - ‘if you can breathe, you can do Yoga’. I thoroughly agree.
I taught my first adult classes in January 2008 and became qualified as a British Wheel of Yogi in 2009. I have been teaching regularly since then at gyms, privately, with local and national charities, in the workplace and in schools. Since 2009 I specialized in Yoga for Women’s Health - Pregnancy Yoga, Postnatal Yoga, Yoga to help Fertility and for Womb Health, Hypno-Yoga for birth. I have studied with Uma Dinsmore Tuli, Birthlight, Wendy Teasdill, Janine Hurley, Calm for Kids’, Cherie Lathey and most recently Clare Spink (Fertility Massage).
I passionately offer nurturing one-to-ones and small group classes in all the above and for the promotion of mental health and women’s womb health and fertility. I am fully DBS certified and have undergone Safeguarding training so can also teach in schools and to vulnerable groups. Over the years I have collaborated with various charities/NGOs - including MS Society, MIND, Barnardos, CoastNet - worked in schools with children and teachers, and in workplace settings - Colchester Borough Housing, North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group - as part of their Wellbeing initiatives.
It is great to practice Yoga to manage stress levels and relax, empower, nurture, strengthen and revitalise you increasing your general mental and physical wellbeing . All my classes combine breathing techniques, posture work and meditations/relaxation (Pranayama, Asana and Yoga Nidra), which are all especially modified from classical yoga practices to suit the person’s needs. Everything is adapted, taking in to consideration your particular stage of life/pregnancy/post natal body and mind and your particular needs (whether you have back pain, pelvic pains or are particularly fatigued or suffer mild depression etc).
