Painful jaw ache?

Not one we get asked alot, but yes as osteopaths we absolutely can help jaw pain. We would treat the jaw specifically but also treat around the neck and shoulders to make sure its not a secondary symptom from somewhere else.

Predominatly symptoms will be clicking and painful jaws but also headaches referred from jaw muscles and joints aswell.

About 30% of us get a jaw click and this ciuld be a sign if TMJD or a dysfunction at your jaw joint.

🦴 Scoliosis 🦴

All Scoliosis means is an abnormal (generally laterally) curvature to your spine.

This is NOT a diagnosis it's an observation!

There's also 2 types, functional (gained through lifestyle factors e.g work. And congenital whi h means to be born with.

Severe Scoliosis can have an impact on your function but not necessarily mean it's the cause of your pain. There is absolutely treatment and exercise you can do to help maintain or improve it but ultimately, as with many issues it is about strength and adaptability of tissues not how they appear thats the problem.

Wrist pain when gripping, lifting your baby, or opening jars? 🤲

This is the Finkelstein test - used to assess for De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, a common cause of thumb-side wrist pain (especially in new parents, gym goers & desk workers).

🔍 A positive test reproduces sharp pain along the thumb side of the wrist.

Good news: it’s very treatable with the right rehab, load management & hands-on care.

Trendelenbergs test.
We see lots of hip pain in clinic and this test allows us to see if the hips are weak on one side, and therefore not supporting the hips when walking, climbing stairs or turning.
The reasons can vary from tendinopathy, hip arthritis or potential nerve damage so it’s important to incorporate this test into a wider assessment.
