It’s finally here. After more than a year of work -collaborating with a brilliant illustrator who created bespoke artwork and a wonderfully patient graphic designer - the new Cycles Pack is complete and now available on the website.

This resource includes everything needed to deliver the Cycles Approach with confidence and clarity: step-by-step guidance, over 700 picture cards for both primary and secondary patterns, probe sheets, planning templates, activity ideas, homework sheets, and more. Here’s what we did in today’s /sl/ themed session.

First we made ‘slime’. It was so slippery, slimy and sloppy!

Next we made slugs out of play dough. We practised our target words and moved the slugs down the slimy trail to reach the flower

Followed by a game of my favourite, ‘Sleepy Sloths’

Such a fun session and so many opportunities to hear and practise our /sl/ words!

It’s been lovely to see so many of you discovering (or rediscovering!) my Helping Children to Understand Abstract Language packs recently — I’ve no idea what’s made them so popular all of a sudden, but it’s wonderful to know they’re being put to good use!

Each pack uses Blank Levels of Questioning with engaging illustrations, designed to make abstract language that bit more accessible (and fun!) for children.

If you’re working on reasoning, inference, or those tricky “why” and “how” questions, these might be worth a look.
