Thanks notice - WELSH - The Family of the late Bertie Welsh wish to express their sincere thanks to all who expressed sympathy during their recent sad bereavement. They would like to thank everyone for their love and sympathy for those who called at the home, for the many phone calls, messages, cards, donations in lieu of flowers, to all who attended the funeral and supported them in any way during their recent bereavement.

Special thanks to Rev Carmen Hayes for conducting the service in Bertie’s home, at the graveside and the thanksgiving service. Grateful thanks to the Mothers Union who prepared and served the tea after the funeral.

The family extend their thanks to Mrs Amanda Doak, the pianist at the funeral service and to the caretaker Mr Bert Knight and his daughter Bonnie for their help. Heartfelt thanks to Garvagh Health Centre and Wilkinson Chemist for their attentive care, support and assistance.

Sincere thanks to all the carers from the NHS Trust for the dedicated care they gave to Bertie and the support shown to Emily. The family wish to acknowledge Platinum Care for their team of sitters and the comfort they provided. Their kindness and support has been a great source of comfort to Emily and the whole family.

Grateful thanks are extended to Clyde Funeral Directors for their professional guidance and compassionate handling of all funeral arrangements. As it would be difficult to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our very sincere appreciation.

5th April 2025, peacefully in hospital, Vancouver, Canada and formerly of Articlave, Co Londonderry devoted wife of Mervyn, a much loved sister of Robert and beloved sister in law, aunt and cousin. Formerly medical stenographer at Coleraine Hospital 1966 to 1982 before emigrating to Canada.

Service of thanksgiving for her life will be held at First Garvagh Presbyterian Church on Thursday 29th May at 11 am followed by interment in adjoining graveyard.

We posted this 3 years ago - still very relevant today. We are very blessed here in Northern Ireland that people show real respect most of the time. It only takes a few mins to pause, show respect and make it a bit easier for the family and the funeral director. This wee post went viral in 2021 with so many likes and 37k shares.

Paying our respects. During this very difficult time, could we ask everyone for some help. If you see a hearse, could you stop and stand for a moment as it passes, perhaps bow your head?
In these times where funerals are restricted, our chance to support people during bereavement is limited. So, we wondered if we could revive an old tradition that would show people that their loss is noticed and shared by us all?
It would mean the world to families in a time of sadness. This message comes from all funeral directors in UK.
