This is a famous quote people often use to talk about progress in pilates.
Pilates is a practice of learning in layers, where each session builds on the one before it. You start by understanding the foundations—breath, alignment, and control—and then gradually add strength, mobility, and precision. Rather than rushing to advanced movements, Pilates emphasises mastering the basics so your body can move more efficiently and safely.
Over time, these layers come together, creating a strong, balanced body and a deeper awareness of how you move, both in the studio and in everyday life. You will feel better after 1 or 2 classes... but the real change comes with patience & persistence: Your body will thank you.
I'm still learning and developing my understanding of Pilates in my ever changing body & circumstances. It's a journey that I can whole-heartedly recommend & you are very welcome to join us.
