💡 Postoperative hypoxemia is defined as inadequate tissue oxygenation following surgery, due to inadequate blood flow or arterial oxygen content.

High-Flow Oxygen Therapy can be used for postoperative recovery, as it clears out the upper airway and contributes to better oxygenation. 🫁

HFOT and CPAP training for the AquaVENT® FD140i

On , join us in raising awareness about this distressing, but treatable, lung disease. 🫁

In the UK, it affects around 8 in 1000 adults each year and is particularly serious for the very young or elderly.

We posted a blog which dives into the diagnosis and categorisation of pneumonia, along with how HFOT and CPAP are being used to treat it and improve patient outcomes. A 50 year old smoker with COPD, OSA and a BMI > 30 was admitted to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The patient was preoxygenated by HFOT and postoperatively extubated onto CPAP with a face mask using the AquaVENT® FD140i dual therapy gas flow driver.

Despite the patient being transferred to the HDU for aftercare, their speedy recovery meant that they were discharged without the requirement for a costly overnight stay, freeing up a HDU bedspace for the next patient.

The AquaVENT® FD140i can be used in perioperative settings, including in shared airway fields for anaesthesia, endoscopy and surgical.

Perioperative use of AquaVENT® FD140i uses the POINT (PeriOperative Insufflatory Nasal Therapy) mode on the device, allowing you to deliver effective heated and humidified High Flow Oxygen Therapy via nasal cannula to your patients.

🦠 October is Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Awareness Month 🦠

RSV is one of the common viruses that cause coughs and colds in winter, usually causing mild respiratory infection in adults and children. But for some infants who are at increased risk of acute lower respiratory tract infection, it can be severe.

In the UK, epidemics of RSV generally start in October and peak in December. To find out how you can be prepared for RSV and prevent its spread, read our blog today: https://www.eakinrespiratory.com/blogs/respiratory-syncytial-virus-be-prepared/

Respiratory syncytial virus is an enveloped RNA virus and is in the same family as the human parainfluenza viruses and mumps and measles viruses.

❄️ Presiones asistenciales invernales Blog ❄️

Until they received their first AquaVENT® FD140i dual therapy flow driver, the National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh did not have a functional device available in their institution: which brought the potential risk of perioperative hypoxic injury to patients.

The AquaVENT® FD140i delivers safe and effective CPAP and High Flow Oxygen Therapy in a controlled and straightforward manner. It can be used in anaesthetic practice as part of the pre-oxygenation process before general anaesthesia in high-risk, obese and difficult airway patients, extending apnoea time and maintaining oxygenation prior to intubation.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Michael Narvey, neonatologist and Vice President of the Canadian Paediatric Society, to our latest NeoFlow® webinar. 🐨

We were delighted to see so many of you join us to hear Michael share his clinical insights on the development of extremely premature babies; and the different therapies used around the world to care for these tiny patients.

If you couldn’t make it to the session, don’t worry! We’ll be sharing the recording on our website in early November. Stay tuned for when it goes live!
