Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is one of the most common causes of vertigo — the sudden sensation that you're spinning or that the inside of your head is spinning.

BPPV causes brief episodes of mild to intense dizziness. It is usually triggered by specific changes in your head's position. This might occur when you tip your head up or down, when you lie down, or when you turn over or sit up in bed.

Although BPPV can be bothersome, it's rarely serious except when it increases the chance of falls.

There are various forms of treatment, including managing the causes and some specific exercises. In addition to this, Epley's Manoeuvre (which can be performed by our physiotherapist Barry Craven) can also play a very positive part.

Do you try to remain active only to be hit by a constant and persistent ni**le that stops you in your tracks?
Have you fallen into the stop - restart - re-injury trap?

This can be extremely frustrating to say the least!

This is a common cycle that a great many of our clients have fallen into; however, this does not need to be the case.

An assessment at Craven Complete can help identify the cause (whether soft tissue or technique-based) before providing therapy, advice and guidance to not just treat the issue but also prevent it from happening again.

Interested? Contact us so we can discuss whether an appointment can help you.

Barry, James or George will be pleased to help you

Are you suffering from pain on the outside of your buttock or the side of your hip?

You may have GTPS (Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome), which is a common cause of (lateral) pain in this area.
This can impact sleep, movement, daily function, and the ability to exercise. It is often caused by irritation or injury to the soft tissues around the hip.
Experiencing hip pain?
A physiotherapist can provide a detailed assessment, diagnosis, and a bespoke rehabilitation programme.

Hands-on treatment does not fix injuries! This does not mean there isn’t a place for it in your rehab journey.

Hands-on treatment can be used as a fantastic form of pain relief, promote blood flow and aiding in a person's recovery.

Ultimately, it isn’t hands-on treatment that “fixes” the problem that you have as for the majority of soft tissue injuries, there are two key components when it comes to recovery -
1. Exercise-based rehabilitation.
2. Time.

The hands-on treatment that we provide alongside this is a fantastic tool and will aid your recovery.

If you visit a therapist who proclaims they can “fix” you with the touch of their hands, please run a mile!

If what you’re really after is good, honest advice on how to recover from your injury, get in touch with us.

Massages aren’t just a luxury—they’re a powerful tool for physical and mental health. Here’s why we need massages:
✅ 1. Relieves Muscle Tension and Pain
• Massage reduces knots, tightness, and soreness by improving blood flow to the muscles.
• Helps with chronic pain (like back, shoulder, or neck pain) and recovery from workouts or injuries.
🧠 2. Reduces Stress and Anxiety
• Massage decreases cortisol (the stress hormone) and increases serotonin and dopamine, which promote relaxation and a sense of well-being.
• Even one session can lead to significant mental calm.
😴 3. Improves Sleep Quality
• By relaxing the nervous system and easing muscle tension, massages help you fall asleep faster and sleep more deeply.
🧬 4. Boosts Circulation and Lymphatic Flow
• Helps your body move blood and lymph more efficiently, which:
• Delivers oxygen and nutrients to tissues
• Supports detoxification
• Reduces swelling and fluid retention
🦴 5. Supports Joint Flexibility and Mobility
• Loosens up stiff joints and improves range of motion.
• Especially helpful for people with arthritis, injuries, or postural imbalances.
🧘 6. Enhances Mind-Body Connection
• Massage encourages you to become more aware of your body and breath—similar to meditation.
• Great for those practicing mindfulness or managing emotional trauma stored in the body.
🛡️ 7. Strengthens the Immune System
• Regular massages may enhance immune function by reducing stress and improving lymph flow (which carries immune cells).
🩺 8. Helps With Medical Conditions
Massage is often used as part of treatment for:
• Migraines
• TMJ (jaw tension)
• Fibromyalgia
• Post-surgery recovery
• Digestive issues
• Sciatica

Welcome to Craven Complete Physio & Rehab

We are Barry and Lyndsay Craven, a husband and wife team who are passionate about sports fitness and helping others. Over many years we have developed Craven Complete Physio and Rehab to provide our clients with a full range of services all under one roof!

Our aim is to provide a complete assessment and diagnosis before the start of any physio treatment. This plan will aim to take an individual from the point of injury back to full activity. Our assessments can be provided in the clinic or within your home, with treatment in situ or extending into our gym, pool and the greater outdoors.

All physiotherapy is provided by an experienced clinician, who has worked in a variety of medical sectors. Should your medical requirements need additional intervention, you will be referred on as a matter of course.
