๐Ÿš™ MYTHBUSTING ๐Ÿšจ

Commonly, people think that if they have fully comprehensive cover on one vehicle it will allow them to drive another vehicle 3rd party cover.

This isn't always the case (check your policy).

And often when it's the case, rarely will this extend to commercial vehicles or vans.

Unfortunately the driver of this van found out the hard way when he was stopped on the outskirts of Bangor yesterday - vehicle seized and reported for no insurance.

Please, please, please - always check the small print ๐Ÿ“‘ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

On 18 February 2026, Mark Canavan, 35, of Maes Bryn Melyd, Rhyl, was sentenced to 56 weeks in prison and disqualified from driving for two years.
Previously, he had admitted to multiple driving offences, which occurred on Wednesday, 3 September 2025.
Suspecting that his Volkswagen Golf was being driven illegally, officers attempted to stop the vehicle after it exited the A*5 at a junction near Caerwys.
Canavan failed to stop and a pursuit ensued, during which he drove at speeds exceeding 100 mph and contravened solid white line road markings.
The following footage is taken from the police pursuit, which ultimately resulted in his arrest.

Op Tramline's unmarked HGV returned to North Wales last week whereby almost 50 drivers, the majority being HGV and van drivers, were caught not wearing their seatbelts and using their mobile phones whilst driving.

The national roads policing operation sees police forces using a HGV tractor unit provided by National Highways, and patrols are carried out across strategic road networks targeting all drivers including HGV drivers and commercial vehicles.

The elevated position of the HGV cab allows trained officers to easily see what drivers are doing and offences are identified and recorded on camera in real time. These offences are then radioed to colleagues situated in marked and unmarked police cars, who then pull-over the suspected vehicles and address the offences.

Road safety continues to be a priority for us, and the number of offences detected during this operation highlights the importance of this type of proactive road safety initiative.

Using a mobile phone and failing to wear a seatbelt are just two of the โ€˜Fatal 5โ€™ โ€“ the five most common causes of death and serious injuries on our roads, yet these were the most common offences detected during this operation. Choosing to commit a fatal five offence means the driver is not only putting themselves at risk, but also other innocent road users.
