Combe Martin Osteopathy

Combe Martin Osteopathy A complementary health practice providing manual therapies to all individuals in the local community mobility, work, sport).

We are a small, friendly complementary healthcare practice in the heart of Combe Martin, North Devon currently offering osteopathy, West Medical Acupunture and therapeutic massage (see services offered for more details). The main practice consists of a warm and welcoming home-based reception and treatment room. Osteopathy specialises in the diagnosis, management, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal and other related disorders. It is a form of manual therapy that can have beneficial effects for a number of muscle and joint conditions. Very much a person centred approach, it treats the individual as a whole and takes into consideration their home and work environment, diet, physical and mental states. In doing so, it strives to provide the optimum conditions for health by working with your body’s own healing mechanisms to achieve results. Osteopathy is a primary healthcare service and has its own regulatory body (GOsC). Practitioners must hold a degree Osteopathic Medicine which consists of at least 4 years of study at undergraduate level and abide by a set of professional standards. Massage covers an array of manual therapies that most people think of as working on muscles. Many people choose to have massage as in order to relax, others specifically want to address those tight and possibly painful (or pain causing) muscles and some see it as a way to help improve their quality of life or performance (e.g. However, depending on which technique is used, massage can also work on and have an effect each and every part of the body. By working on various body tissues (muscles, ligaments, tendons, skin, and even internal organs) it can affect wider body functions via the circulatory and nervous systems such as general muscle tone, the whole cardio-vascular system, digestion, metabolism, immunity to name a few. Thus, massage therapy can contribute to wider goals such as weight loss/management, pain management, cardio-vascular health, mental wellbeing, focus and mindfulness. Having recently moved to the village in February 2015, I have been warmly welcomed into the local community and hope to reciprocate by providing support to individuals, families and employers in and around the local area. Currently a sole practitioner I hope to work collaboratively with existing therapists and professionals to enhance the local provision of healthcare services including an already impressive array of complementary and alternative options. Together I hope we can work towards identifying and helping fill gaps in provision in the wider area.

CHAIR YOGA

Would you or do you know anyone who would be interested in a chair yoga class in Ilfracombe? It's a great way to increase mobility and flexibility in a safe and comfortable way. It would be in a small friendly class with a fully qualified instructor. It would probably be Monday during they day but other times could be an option. Please comment or ask any questions below....and please share away!

I'm desperately trying to cut down on junk emails and subscriptions that I never read. Healthline is one of the few free 'lifestyle' newsletters I haven't UNsubscribed to recently. It provides really good evidence based arguments for/against/or meh? on lots of health and especially diet related topics. Like this one! Good for sorting out the fads from the fixes.

Is the combo of olive oil and lemon juice a super duo with effects that are greater than taking each individually? In short, no.
