Our brains are wired to hunt out patterns and in winter, the mosaics formed by bare trees, hedges and - if we're lucky - snowflakes, help soothe our brains. Just go out walking, phone in pocket and take in the amazing display

The children in these photos have no idea probably of the important part they are playing in mental health for the future. And as we're on a trundl for The Tree Council , helping to plant another orchard in a UK school, please share your own shots of favourite trees if you'd like.

From sitting on a rock in Start-Rite shoes with my Mum 50 year ago.
To today celebrating 5 years since I incorporated trundl on the 12th Nov
It seems like 5 minutes ago for both.
My love of the outdoors have never dwindled and it's why trundl exists.

It's been a long walk. But people and businesses now "got out for a trundl" and that's brilliant. I will write more about the highs and lows of business over the course of our celebratory month in the hopes it might help someone out there, but for now -just

“My tree has got 30 little apples - I thought there would be 18. ⁠⁠
There’s nearly the same number as in my class!⁠⁠
I have given my tree water and looked after it, so it’s very healthy and grown lots of apples.”⁠

This delighted feedback from a pupil at St Alban's Primary School in Havant just goes to show how quickly orchards start to make an impact.⁠

From the first hands that help plant the trees, to all the many more that will tend for them, protect the flowers and then harvest the fruit, these orchards touch the hearts, minds and tastebuds of many generations of school children. ⁠

Thanks to trundlrs choosing to walk rather than drive for short trips, we've already saved more than 15,000 kg of CO2. We celebrate this achievement by funding carbon-saving projects like this one with The Tree Council.⁠

We often say 'why walk when you can trundl', but clearly our members have also decided 'why drive when you can trundl' into the mix 💚⁠

How brilliant was that? Our first trundl for Foundation and we smashed the distance goal early, so we upped the target and increased the donation!⁠

Huge thanks to founders of The Outdoor Guide Foundation and for their support, we're proud to help them in their mission to get a set of wet-weather kits into every state UK primary school.⁠

On the last day of our trundl - that's a walk to someone who is new to trundl. We have helped to raise over £380 which means 10 sets of waterproofs and wellies are donated with Foundation and helps the amazing to continue her vision to see a TOG waterproof set go into all 20,000 state primary schools across the UK. That means no child has to stay indoors or not get the opportunity to play happily outside toasty and dry. Something we often take for granted.

🎉🎉🥳 We are so proud to have the lovely -hunt shouting out for us at trundl as part of her Ambassador role for Foundation.

Gemma was born in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, and had a love for performing and storytelling from a early age. She studied Media Performance at The University of Bedfordshire, and graduated with an amazing First Class degree in 2003.

She secured her first TV presenting role with and worked exclusively for CBBC from 2003 to 2007 before going freelance.

In 2013, she proudly joined the CBeebies family as part of the BAFTA award-winning pirate game show, Swashbuckle and has since worked on many CBeebies Pantos and Shakespeare productions. She has been on the radio, live festivals including the Big Church Festivals and much more.

Beyond the screen, she runs confidence coaching sessions and workshops in presenting skills, and loves working with children - whether it’s through storytelling sessions, birthday parties or helping them discover their confidence.

One of her proudest moments was being nominated for “Best Presenter” at the 2017 Children’s BAFTAs.

Follow her and most of all, like Gemma, never stop believing in our children and what they are capable of - given the right wellie boots and waterproofs they can go and explore and find the things they love to do. 🦔
