January has gone in a flash and apart from all the great music we enjoyed, we were also busy with our mind, body and soul. We had dog therapy, aromatherapy sessions, puzzles, and hand and foot care. Helping to brush the floor is also a meaningful and stimulating activity. Focusing on our resident's wellbeing helps them to live well by balancing physical, mental, and emotional needs. It's something we do well!

It's a New Year and Alison's first monthly relatives meeting went very well. It's a great chance for all relatives to come together and have a chat about any concerns or any difficulties that is faced when visiting The Elms. Helping to put minds at rest by giving support to navigate this complex journey. If you are new relatives to the Elms, please join Alison on the last Friday of the month.

January is a quiet month. Time for New Year resolutions and reflection. It's not been very quiet here at the Leonard Elms. We will carry on the tradition of having live music and other entertainment once a week. We are always on the lookout for new entertainment to join us and we already have some new acts. So far this month, we have enjoyed Shannon Kitchen who brought in the New Year. Myles and Maddox and Nicola Cox came to sing all our favourites tunes. Great singing to cheer up this gloomy month! And lovely to see some Residents singing and dancing!

Merry Christmas everybody. Santa visited, presents were opened and tables decorated for our Christmas day lunch. Christmas tunes in the background while every one tucked into the turkey. It's great to see everyone at the tables to celebrate this special day, while some relatives came and joined in to eat with their loved ones. Thanks again to all our staff that worked hard to make this day special. πŸ€ΆπŸŽ…

🎢 Rockin around the Christmas tree! 🎢 Haven't we had a busy December so far! And the best is yet to come. A visit from Santa with presents for everyone, and of course, Christmas Day lunch that will pop your buttons! To keep up the festive singing, we had Nicola join us in belting out Christmas tunes we are familiar with. Happy Christmas Eve!

The second trip to Cadbury Garden Centre on the mini bus. A trip through the countryside looking at all the Christmas lights of the houses on route. Smelling the fresh cold Winter air. Then in the warmth once inside with the sights and sounds and the smells of festive plants and decorations. So much to see! Triggering happy memories and encouraging some reminiscence. Then the treat of a cream tea! A wonderful time had by all. Thank you again for the 'elves' who made this happen!

Alison's last relative's meet for this year. Another successful lunch full of all sorts of conversation and great food in the local pub. If you are new here on our fb page, Alison is a Dementia Carer, part time Activities Coordinator and once a month she is Family Liason. Alison holds a relatives meeting either at the home or down the local pub every last Friday of the month. If you know Alison, she is a good listener and will answer any questions you have about your loved ones. It is also a good time to just sit and chat with other relatives in a relaxing environment. Anyone is welcome. Come along to the next one in January!

🎢 Away in a Manger! 🎢 A lovely Church Service with our local Reverend Mathew and his Christmas flock. Singing Christmas Carols familiar to our residents that encouraged a bit of reminiscing. And listening to Bible readings along with the Christmas story with Mary, Joseph and Jesus. In thanks for the Service, mince pies and mulled wine was handed out after and, some Christmas cheer was had.
