📢 Patient Participation Group (PPG) Annual General Meeting

The PPG are inviting all our patients and carers to join them for the PPG AGM!

🗓 Date: Monday 20th April 2026
⏰ Time: 17:30 – 18:00
📍 Location: The Lions Den

Our PPG is a group of volunteer patients and carers who:
• Provide constructive feedback
• Support health awareness
• Help improve our surgery’s services

Non-PPG members are very welcome to attend the AGM. Please note that from 18:00, the PPG members’ meeting will begin, and non-members will be asked to leave.

📢 Update on Cervical Screening Results

From 24 March 2026, if your cervical screening result requires a referral to colposcopy, you’ll be able to see it on the NHS App.

Here’s how it works:
📱 If you have the NHS App, you’ll get a notification there first.
✉️ If you don’t read it within 24 hours, a letter will be sent as a backup.
📩 Some patients may also receive an SMS notification.
📬 If you don’t have the NHS App, your result will be sent by post.

What you can do:
✅ Download the NHS App and enable notifications to get your results faster: www.nhs.uk/nhs-app

💬 If you have questions, speak to your sample taker or GP practice.

This change is designed to make it quicker and easier to receive your results safely.

💊 Did you know? You may be able to get contraception directly from your local pharmacy.

The NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service allows you to access advice and certain types of contraception directly from a pharmacist – without needing to see a GP first.

Through participating pharmacies, you may be able to:
• Start the contraceptive pill
• Continue your regular oral contraception
• Access emergency contraception (the morning after pill)

The service is free on the NHS, and consultations take place privately with a trained pharmacist.

This service helps make contraception more accessible and convenient, and may also reduce the need for a GP appointment for routine contraceptive care.

Cervical screening is a quick, simple test for women aged 25–64 that looks for HPV — a virus that can sometimes lead to cervical cancer. It only takes 10 minutes and could save your life.

👶💉 MMRV Vaccination – A Guide for Parents

The MMRV vaccine protects children against Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (chickenpox) — four infections that can be serious, particularly in young children.

We’re sharing a helpful guide for parents that explains:
• What the MMRV vaccine is
• When it’s offered
• Why it’s important
• Answers to common questions

ℹ️ Important information for parents
There is a slightly increased risk of febrile convulsions (fits caused by a fever) in young children following the MMRV vaccine, compared to giving the MMR and chickenpox vaccines separately. These convulsions can be frightening but are usually short-lived and do not cause long-term harm.

💗 Routine Breast Screening Saves Lives 💗

If you’re a woman aged 50–70, you’ll be routinely invited for breast screening as part of the NHS Breast Screening Programme.

If you’re over 70, you won’t be invited automatically — but you can self-refer and continue having regular screenings.

Breast screening can detect cancer early, often before you notice any symptoms. Attending your appointment really could save your life.

Please don’t put it off. When your invitation arrives, make the time to go — and encourage the women you care about to do the same. 💕
