Would you like to be involved in Leadgate Surgery's patient participation group?

We are looking for expressions of interests from patients who are registered at the surgery, who have a keen interest in the local community and a passion for service improvement.

This will be an opportunity for patients to deliver new ideas and suggestions to the surgery, and for the surgery to share updates and information.

Flu & Covid Vaccine clinics

Our appointment diary is now open to book your flu and covid vaccines, we have a clinic on Saturday Morning 11th October.

Patients eligible for Covid & Flu: Patients over 75years old & immunosuppressed patients.
Patients eligible for Flu only: Patients over 65 years old immunosuppressed patients.

All eligible patients will have received a self-booking link to book in their appointment direct. Alternatively, you can book an appointment by ringing our reception team on 01207 583 555.

We are pleased to let you know that Durham County Carers Support has received additional funding through the Household Support Fund to help unpaid carers in County Durham. This funding is available now.

What the Household Support Fund Covers:

This funding is intended to help carers facing financial hardship with essentials such as:
• Food
• Fuel (gas/electricity)
• White goods
• Other essential household needs
• Transport costs
• And more

We are particularly keen to support carers who may not have accessed financial help before, including:
• Hidden carers
• Carers who are working but on a low income
• Carers experiencing a sudden change in circumstances.

If you are working with someone who is caring for a family member, friend, or neighbour, please Contact Maddie our SPLW here at the surgery. Or you can access this by calling 0191 500 6011.

Additional Support for Carers
Alongside financial assistance, we offer a wide range of support services for carers, including:
• Information and advice on benefits, housing, and employment rights
• Emotional support including counselling and peer support
• Breaks and respite opportunities
• Carer support plans and regular reviews
• Training, events, and wellbeing activities

Our aim is to ensure carers feel supported, valued, and better able to manage their caring role. We work closely with professionals across all sectors to ensure carers are not overlooked and have access to the help they need.

🌟Surgery update 🌟

Please be aware that due to unforeseen circumstances we are currently very short staffed at the surgery, unfortunately some appointments will need to be postponed until a later date, we have recall systems in place to recontact patients to book their appointment when we have the capacity to offer this.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused to patients at this time we do appreciate your patience as we work hard to resolve this.

Shotley Bridge Hospital opening times update.

📣 Shotley Bridge Urgent Treatment Centre will temporarily close overnight (12am–8am) for 3 months from mid-July due to ongoing staffing challenges.

Most visits happen 8am–midnight, so we’re focusing resources there to keep care safe.
