Sophrology Wales was founded by Valerie Lewis in 2016, in Conwy, North Wales. the practice of sophrology can help you deal with:

Anxiety
Stress related symptoms
Sleep disorders
Phobias
Cancer
Tinnitus

It is also helpful to:

Improve concentration
Reinforce self–confidence and motivation
Prepare for future events like exams, interviews, childbirth, surgery Metal preparation for sports competition. Recover after surgery, bereavement

Sophrology can be done(online or offline) in one-to-one sessions (45 to 60 minutes) or group sessions (1 hour). Four to five sessions are needed to master the basic techniques. Clients are asked to practice the techniques every day for 10 to 20 minutes. The more practice, the more efficient the techniques become. The ultimate aim is to develop the skills so that you can use the techniques on your own whenever needed in your daily life.

Do you live with tinnitus and wish you could feel calmer and less stressed?
Join me for a gentle evening course where you’ll learn simple breathing, relaxation, and visualisation techniques to help you manage tinnitus more easily day to day.

Starts: Thursday 8th January 2025
Time: 6:30–7:30 PM
Venue: Conwy Business Centre, Llandudno Junction
Cost: £140 for the full 8 weeks
Includes: Recorded audios to practise at home
Suitable for all abilities — wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes

Week 4’s focus was on neuroplasticity — the brain’s amazing ability to change and adapt.

Through sophrology, participants explored how to develop a positive visualisation of tinnitus, creating a new and more resourceful way of perceiving sound.

We revisited two quick techniques for releasing tension when tinnitus becomes louder, helping build confidence and autonomy in managing stress responses.

Then, during a guided visualisation, participants imagined transforming the sound of their tinnitus into strokes of paint on a canvas — choosing colours, shapes, and textures to symbolise their perception of it. This creative process helped shift focus from distress to curiosity and self-expression.

Feedback from this smaller, more conversational group was heartening:
“Wonderful to relax and focus on each colour in turn.”
“Trying to concentrate on tinnitus was hard, but overall it did work.”

Each week, participants are discovering new ways to respond to tinnitus with calm and creativity — one small step in retraining the brain through practice and awareness.

🌙 Week 3 – Tinnitus Relief with Sophrology: Focusing on Better Sleep

Even though our space was a little colder (and the café next door a little noisier!) this week, the group made beautiful progress in deepening their relaxation and body awareness.

Here’s how some participants described their experience:
💬 “Felt myself starting to drift off, which is great considering the background noise.”
💬 “More in control of my breathing, shoulders less tense.”
💬 “I felt myself drifting in and out, like a good switch off.”

Despite the distractions, everyone managed to relax, release tension, and reconnect with their bodies — a powerful step toward better sleep and calmer nights.

This growing body awareness is exactly what helps the nervous system settle, paving the way for more restorative rest and reduced stress — both essential in easing tinnitus symptoms.

Progress isn’t always about silence — sometimes it’s about learning to relax even when life feels noisy.

Week 2 of my Sophrology for Tinnitus course was all about releasing tension — one of the biggest factors in how we experience tinnitus.

🌿 One participant realised she didn’t notice her tinnitus at all during the session.

🌿 Another said their usual pulsing sound had eased to a medium level.

These are early signs that the body and mind are starting to rebalance.

When tension releases, the nervous system calms — and perception changes.
