The UK’s biggest-selling arena artist, Peter Kay, has announced a series of final arena shows across the UK & Ireland, with ALL profits donated to 12 leading cancer charities, with The Charity being one of them!

Peter remains a close family friend of the Nuttall family. He supported Laura Nuttall, who was one of our Young Ambassadors and a phenomenal supporter of The Charity, when she was going through treatment over the years before she sadly died in 2023.

Laura and her family even managed to coax Peter Kay out of retirement to perform sell-out ‘Doing it For Laura’ gigs at Manchester’s O2 Apollo in 2021.

A massive thank you to Peter for his unwavering support of The Charity, and we cannot wait to see the show! Tickets for the tour go on sale on Sunday, 30 November.

A common feature of my treatment and one of my invisible ‘side effects’ is hearing loss. I am totally 100% deaf in one ear yet it makes up its own range of noises (tinnitus) to try and compensate - blocking out even more sound, and my other ear isn’t doing so well either. This blog post by someone else explains the difference this makes brilliantly

In my previous blog, The Science of Sound Localisation and What It Feels Like to Lose It, I explored how the brain identifies where sounds come from and how that sense of direction disappears when …

This is my reality. While I am doing brilliantly considering, there is most definitely a lasting impact for so many of us, no matter how well we ‘look’.

8 years ago I had surgery to implant the clever kit to allow me to wear my super bionic hearing aid. 6 months later I was ready to attach my Bone Anchored Hearing Aid. It’s far from perfect but along with my Cross Aid allows to get on in a way most people would never know the added challenges I have of being considerably hearing impaired. (My hair helps too! My favourite part is that my son has always made me beautiful safety chains that make my hearing aids look like hair accessories to replace the standard fishing line and plastic clip.

Thank you so much for all the lovely comments and shares for the video of my interview. It’s always nerve wracking putting yourself out there about something so personal. I feel so fortunate to have such a supportive community around me.
