❄️Snow is forecast to fall across the country this week, leaving thousands of rough sleepers exposed to freezing temperatures.❄️
If you see someone you think may be sleeping rough, here's how you can help:
1. If you're in England or Wales, contact Street Link - an app and helpline that connects rough sleepers with local services: www.streetlink.org.uk
If you're in Scotland, contact your local council or visit the Shelter Scotland website for more info: http://bit.ly/ScotlandShelter
2. Due to the cold weather, emergency winter night shelters have been activated in London and other parts of the country. Visit the Homeless Link directory which lists homelessness services in your area: https://www.homeless.org.uk/search-homelessness-services
3. If the person appears to be in immediate danger you should call 999. If you are worried about someone’s housing situation, direct them to the Shelter Housing Advice Helpline on 0808 800 4444. If the person is young you can find advice on the Centrepoint website: https://centrepoint.org.uk/youth-homelessness/get-help-now/
4. One of the most important things you can do is simply stop and talk to someone. Rough sleeping can be an isolating, devastating experience – a shared word could make all the difference. For further advice visit: https://www.crisis.org.uk/get-help/
