🦶Reflexology has been shown to help alleviate and minimise some of side effects associated with breast cancer and it’s treatment.
🦶🏽For example it may reduce fatigue, reduce nausea , reduce anxiety and in some cases reduce pain, and may improve mood and quality of sleep, and Improve quality of life.
🦶🏿I’ve been treating and caring for cancer patients for over a quarter of a century in the NHS and voluntary sector and I’ve witnessed the devastating impact breast cancer and it’s treatment can have on a patient and their family.
🦶🏻I’ve also witnessed the soothing, gentle relief Reflexology can bring even at the most distressing and difficult times.
🦶🏼Slowly but surely, Reflexology and other holistic interventions are being recognised for their role in supporting cancer patients through and beyond their treatment.
🦶🏽In America, Reflexology is recommended for the management of chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy (numbness in fingers and toes), for joint pain and for general cancer related pain ( joint guidelines from American Society of Clinical Oncology ( ASCO) and the Society for Integrative oncology (SIO) ).
🦶And more and more oncology centres and hospices in the UK and Ireland are offering patient’s complementary therapies including Reflexology as part of their cancer management.
Please share if know someone who’s been affected by breast cancer and may benefit from Reflexology
