The Charlotte Straker Project is a 32 bedded care home in Corbridge. We offer high quality residential and nursing care for those over 65.

We also offer a free of charge, respite care room for short term respite breaks funded by charitable donations. The Charlotte Straker Project is a 32 bed charitable care home and offers residential, nursing and respite care to the elderly and frail. As a not for profit care home any surplus profit is reinvested back into the organisation for the benefit of our residents. We concentrate on supporting our residents and fundraising for necessary equipment, activities and resources. We also support some of our local authority residents by funding the fee shortfall - the difference between the amount the local authority pays for care and the actual cost of care. We also offer 8 supported living bungalows in our grounds. Our dedicated, well trained team ensure that individuals living in this well-equipped and comfortable accommodation receive attention all day, every day which enhances quality of life for the elderly frail in our care. Charlotte Straker House provides a “home for life” and we care for residents from the moment they arrive and for the rest of their lives, giving security to both residents and their families.

March is extra special at Charlotte Straker House as we celebrate Nancy turning 100!🌸

Born on 22nd March 1926, Nancy has led a life full of leadership, adventure, creativity and resilience – from Yorkshire school days to worldwide travels, raising a family and thriving in her career.

Following International Women’s Day this weekend, honouring women who shape the world, we’re proud to celebrate one of our own remarkable women. Nancy’s story reminds us that extraordinary lives are built through determination, curiosity and a refusal to stand still.

We’re delighted to share some wonderful news from Charlotte Straker House - we have successfully recruited two new nurses from within our existing team!

In what continues to be a challenging time for the care sector, being able to fill these roles internally following a retirement is a fantastic achievement. It ensures continuity of care for our residents and reflects the strength and dedication of the team we already have.

One of our new appointees is Kellie, who has worked with us as a bank nurse over the past year. Kellie quickly became a valued member of the Charlotte Straker House family, thriving in our supportive and welcoming environment. When the opportunity arose to step into a full-time role, she was eager to take the next step and we’re so pleased she did!

We’re incredibly proud to support career progression within our team while continuing to provide the highest standards of care for our residents.

Celebrating 34 Years at Charlotte Straker House 💙✨

This month, we say a huge thank you to Jackie Kellett as she retires after an incredible 34 years of care at Charlotte Straker House.

Jackie, Nurse and former Deputy Home Manager, has been a constant source of guidance and support to residents, families and colleagues alike. From the early days of the Charlotte Straker Project through decades of change, including service developments, challenges and milestones, Jackie’s dedication, leadership and kindness have never wavered.

While she may be officially retiring, we’re delighted that Jackie will remain a familiar face as part of our bank staff team💙

Thank you, Jackie, for everything you have given to Charlotte Straker House and our community. We wish you a very happy and well-deserved retirement filled with family and new adventures!

Chinese New Year Celebrations at Charlotte Straker House 🏮🐉

Last week, our residents enjoyed a wonderful Chinese New Year celebration filled with colour, flavour and lots of fun!

Our talented cook Helen prepared a delicious Chinese-inspired meal that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The dining room looked fantastic, decorated with bright lanterns and beautiful artwork to mark the occasion and create a real sense of celebration.

The fun didn’t stop there! Our team got into the spirit by dressing up in a traditional dragon costume and performing a special parade around the dining room, accompanied by the sound of hand drums played by our residents. It was a joyful moment that brought plenty of smiles and laughter all round.

Corbridge Charity Fashion Show & Raffle – Tickets Now Available! ✨👗

Get ready for an evening of fashion, fun, and local style at the Corbridge Charity Fashion Show on Thursday 23rd April 2026 - and don’t forget to try your luck in our fabulous raffle!

This year’s prizes include some amazing vouchers from our local traders, including Sarah Thomson, The Golden Lion, Saunders and Pughe, and Acanthus! 🎁

Baking fun at Charlotte Straker House!🧀

We were thrilled to welcome our amazing volunteer Jen back for another hands-on session. This time, residents got busy making delicious cheese scones, packed with cheddar, Red Leicester, and even some crispy onions for extra flavour.

Jen guided everyone step by step, from mixing the ingredients to rolling out the dough, and there were lots of smiles and laughter along the way. Thank you, Jen, for sharing your skills and time — we can’t wait for the next tasty treat! 🍽️✨

Charwallahs and Chilli Night: Less than three weeks to go!🎶🌶️

We’re excited to be co-hosting this special fundraising evening in support of The Charlotte Straker Project and Corbridge Youth Initiative.

The Charwallahs and Chilli Concert will take place at Corbridge Parish Hall on Saturday 14th March, from 7pm to 11pm. Enjoy live music from The Charwallahs, a delicious chilli supper, and a bar - the perfect night of food, fun, and entertainment!

Pancake fun at Charlotte Straker House! 🥞

Residents enjoyed a delicious Pancake Day lunch with all their favourite toppings including lemon and sugar🍋

The fun didn’t stop there as residents and staff joined in some friendly pancake flipping using tennis rackets and tortilla wraps! There was plenty of laughter, a little friendly competition, and lots of smiles all round! What a fantastic way to celebrate shrove Tuesday!
