Today is World Cancer Day 💙

It’s a moment to recognise the importance of awareness, early detection, education, and access to care – and to acknowledge the many people working behind the scenes to support patients through their treatment.

At Pharmaxo, our teams work alongside hospitals and healthcare professionals to help cancer services continue delivering care safely and efficiently, even as demand grows and systems face pressure.

We’re proud to play a small part in supporting those efforts, and to stand with patients, families, and healthcare teams today and every day.

On World Cancer Day we take a moment to recognise everyone who has or has known someone that has been affected by cancer.

This year, we share what the Best Care Possible means to our teams, patients, partners, and our loved ones.

Our sites across the UK including Bath ASU and Pharmaxo Healthcare, as well as Cancer Centre London and our entire global Icon Group network are marking the day by sharing unique stories that highlight the importance of personalised care and how together we are reducing the global cancer burden.

Small actions can make a big difference 💙

At Pharmaxo, our colleagues regularly come together to support causes close to their hearts. One of those is the Ben Saunders Foundation, which helps young people facing cancer and their families find moments of support and relief.

We’re proud to share this story of kindness, connection, and community – and the people who make it happen every day.

Today is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that none of us are alone in how we feel.

Our Chief Financial Officer Andrew Robinson reflects:

“As men we must be more attuned to noticing when each other are struggling and be brave enough to ask ‘are you ok?’ and open up the opportunity for conversation.”

For most people, talking about mental health can feel hard, but reaching out, or checking in, can make all the difference. Let’s keep starting those conversations and supporting one another, every day.

Today on World Pharmacists Day, we celebrate the pharmacists who play a vital role in patient care.

At Pharmaxo, our own pharmacists work behind the scenes in dispensing services and aseptic compounding, helping to prepare safe and effective medicines, including life-saving oncology and chemotherapy treatments.

We are also proud to support our NHS pharmacy colleagues, who dedicate themselves every day to ensuring patients can access the medicines they need. Together, we are working to improve care and support patients at every step.

Each year on 17 September, we are proud to support the WHO’s World Patient Safety Day - a vital opportunity to raise awareness, foster collaboration, and mobilise action to improve patient safety across the globe. Our Clinical Services Manager Leanne Brant said:

This World Patient Safety Day, Pharmaxo Healthcare reaffirms its commitment to supporting paediatric patients receiving Enzyme Replacement Therapy (ERT) in the comfort of their homes and schools. By working closely with families and healthcare professionals, we ensure safe, dignified, and high-quality care - protecting lives and building brighter futures together.

Last week, Bath ASU proudly launched their new MALDI-TOF (Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation time of flight) equipment, marking a major milestone for the team and our commitment to innovation.

The MALDI-TOF equipment rapidly and accurately identifies microorganisms that could be present in the compounding environment, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality are upheld at Bath ASU.

We were delighted to celebrate the launch with Icon Group Global CEO, Mark Middleton, who officially opened the new machine alongside our team.

“This new capability reflects our ongoing focus on innovation and quality,” said Bath ASU Head of Quality, Cheryl Guite.

Bath ASU General Manager Kirsty Keith added: “The MALDI-TOF will enhance our ability to identify micro-organisms with greater speed and accuracy, ultimately strengthening the services we provide.”

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this project a success - a true example of teamwork and innovation in action.

🎉 Happy Be Iconic Day! 🎉

Today our Pharmaxo teams joined Icon Group colleagues across the globe in celebrating Be Iconic Day – our annual day of recognition where we pause to reflect on the incredible impact our people make every single day.

It is a chance to celebrate and thank all team members for their dedication that drives our purposeful work.

This year was made even more special with a visit from our Icon Group CEO Mark Middleton who travelled all the way from Australia to join the celebrations. Today, Mark took the time to tour our Corsham site, and alongside Pharmaxo Group CEO Ian Muir, met with team members at Pharmaxo Healthcare and Bath ASU. We were also joined by colleagues from Icon Cancer Centre London. All of us having the chance to work together today made the celebrations even more meaningful, showing just how important recognition is at every level.

From temp to pharmacy team member! We caught up with Dispensing Assistant Natasha Clifford who told us about her inspiring career journey at Pharmaxo Healthcare.

Natasha began her journey at Pharmaxo Healthcare as a temporary Patient Services Administrator - but it didn’t take long for her to find a permanent place, a clear path forward, and a team she truly connected with.

“I’d heard great things from people already working here, and the role suited my lifestyle at the time,” she says. “The location was ideal, and I saw it as a chance to gain experience and build up my CV.” But what started as a short-term opportunity soon grew into something much more.

With dedication and an eagerness to grow, she moved into a permanent position as a Stores Assistant. From there, her interest in pharmacy deepened - and today, she’s thriving in her role as a Dispensing Assistant. “Being in the pharmacy environment helped me realise just how much I enjoy learning new things,” she shares. “I’ve learned that I can achieve the goals I set for myself.”

For her, the excitement of coming to work lies in the variety each day brings - and the incredible people around her. “There’s always something new to learn, and the whole dispensary team is amazing. Their support and positivity really make a difference in my life.”

Her advice to anyone starting out? “Don’t be afraid to ask questions - and always show your willingness to learn. That’s how you grow.”

With curiosity, drive, and a clear love for what she does, Natasha is proof that every role can be a stepping stone - and every day a chance to move forward.
