Sharing Warmth in Our Community

At CCK we love supporting local groups and welcome spaces — passing on whatever extras we have, whether it’s veggies, pasta, rice, mince pies, tea, coffee, bread… anything that can help make someone’s day a little brighter.

This week I popped over to the Barnstone Welcome Space, and what a lovely visit it was. I was greeted with such warmth, and treated to a delicious pumpkin soup and a slice of lemon drizzle cake — just perfect!

Even better, a couple of our lovely customers dropped in while I was there, so I got to sit with them for a proper chat. It was such a nice outing and reminded me why community spaces like this matter so much.

Here are a few photos — hope they make you smile as much as the visit made me 😊

Our Autumn Community Survey revealed that local causes expect the demand for foodbanks and food provision to rise by 30% over the colder months.

This is a stark reminder of how vital local support networks are in helping communities during this time.

With the help of our partners and community heroes, we hope to make sure everyone has access to good food this winter. 💙

What a fantastic community lunch today at CCK!
We served a hearty homemade Shepherd’s Pie with carrots and peas, followed by a delicious fruit crumble and custard — plus plenty of tea and coffee to finish.

Even better, every ingredient was saved from going to waste, and together we were able to feed 32 people with good food and great company.

It was a warm, friendly afternoon filled with conversation, connection, and full plates.
Thank you to everyone who helped cook, organise, and join us — community at its best.

Turning local harvests into community meals 💛

🍐 A huge thanks to a volunteer who harvested Pears from FarmEco Community Care Farm.
They came to us at CcK, and we passed them on to:
👉 Warm Spaces in Cotgrave
👉 Welcome Space Barnstone/Langar

The result? 🍐➡️ a delicious pear crumble for the community 💛

This is what we do best – being the link so good food reaches the groups who can use it most 🌱

💬 If you have surplus food, or if you’ve got produce to share, get in touch — together we can turn it into something amazing for the community! 🌟

Through a donation from the Leisure Energy Community Grant, funding was provided to the Cotgrave Community Kitchen to enable the purchase of a storage container for storing essential provisions.

Having been the Principal Contractor on the recent decarbonisation project at Cotgrave Leisure Centre we wanted to give something back to the community, and the provision of a much needed storage area for the voluntary organisation was a perfect opportunity.

Along with Cotgrave Community Kitchen representatives, Mike Worsnop attended a photocall this week together with Cllr Jonathan Wheeler, Communities Manager Derek Hayden from Rushcliffe Borough Council and Jacob Cottington, Centre Manager from Lex Leisure.

🥚🐓 Calling All Egg Lovers! 🐓🥚

Got any spare egg boxes lying around? We’d be egg-stremely grateful if you could bring them along next time you pop in! 🧺✨

We’re especially after 6-egg size boxes, but any extras are welcome. Reusing boxes helps us stay eco-friendly 🌱 and keeps our little operation running smoothly!

💛 Thank you for supporting us — you’re all cracking! 🐣

Open tomorrow 10.30-12.00
Take care Xx
