原來太好人,都會肝鬱?

有時睇症會遇到一種人:
修養好,無咩脾氣,但一把脈竟嚴重肝郁!🧐
原來若情緒不能內化,喺會𧗠生各種問題。
中醫認為五臟與五志相對應,若從《說文解字》去睇,古人對情緒其實理解得好深。

肝 與怒 😡
「怒」字從 心 從 奴。
意思係心被壓住、被奴役,氣上衝。
所以怒其實係一種氣向上衝的情緒,如果長期壓住唔發,肝氣反而更鬱。一係唔爆,一爆就非常猛烈!

心 與喜 😁
「喜」字上面似鼓,下有口。
古時慶典擊鼓而歌。所以若得知音能跟其傾訴,或以唱歌奏樂方式使情緒得以外宣,可使氣血舒暢喜樂。
適度的喜可以養心,但過喜卻會令心氣散。

脾 與思 🤔
「思」字上田 下心。
古人認為思慮像田地一樣反覆耕作,心神不停運轉。
所以反覆思慮過多最傷 中土脾胃。

肺 與悲 🥺
「悲」字從 非 從 心。
是一種「事情不如所願」的心境。
悲會令氣收斂、下沉,久之最傷肺氣。

腎與恐 😱
「恐」字上工 旁卂 下心。
指心突然被壓住、令氣收縮的感覺。
恐則氣下,見心腎不交,最損腎氣,

記住,情緒本身唔係壞事,問題係 過度或者壓抑。

所以我真係好欣賞「Inside Out 玩轉腦朋友」所講嘅信息。情緒可以來,但要讓它走。

可以講出嚟、唱歌跳舞🎤💃,做運動🏃🏻‍♂️、大叫大喊一輪、甚至打枕頭發洩一番。嘗試各種方法,只要唔傷害到自己及別人就好,最怕反而係全部吞晒落肚,久而久之 五臟會被拖累出現各種毛病。

Being well-mannered is good, but constantly suppressing emotions can cause problems.

In Chinese medicine, the Five Organs relate to Five Emotions. The ancient dictionary Shuowen Jiezi shows deep meanings behind them:

Liver — Anger 😡
“Anger” means the heart is restrained. Suppressing it makes Liver qi stuck, and when it erupts, it can be intense.

Heart — Joy 😁
“Joy” comes from celebration with drums and singing. Talking, singing, or playing music releases it. Moderate joy is good, too much scatters Heart qi.

Spleen — Overthinking 🤔
The character shows the mind like a ploughed field. Excessive worrying weakens the Spleen and digestion.

Lung — Sadness 🥺
Sadness arises when things go wrong. It contracts qi and over time weakens the Lung.

Kidney — Fear 😱
Fear makes the body shrink inward. Too much disrupts Heart–Kidney balance and weakens Kidney qi.

Emotions will come — the key is to let them go. Talk, sing, dance 🎤💃, exercise 🏃🏻‍♂️, shout, or even punch a pillow. Suffering in silence harms the organs.

Let your emotions out, in a healthy way.

One may also release pent-up emotions through suitable methods, such as **“Villain Hitting,” allowing the qi to flow smoothly.

When thunder moves, all things arise from the earth.

As the first spring thunder sounds, insects awaken, and nature shifts from storage to movement. Temperatures gradually rise, humidity increases, plants begin to sprout, and bacteria and viruses also become more active.

最近睇症,有位朋友由於之前腸胃炎,痾到虛脫。之後個兩星期佢就專登食清啲,幾乎日日白粥,煮菜個陣油都無滴,以為咁樣食就最健康。

殊不知,身體逐漸出現易驚、瞓得唔深沉,多夢易醒,經常猶豫不決等「膽氣虛」嘅狀況。

到底發生了什麼事?

喺西醫角度講,膽濃縮並儲存膽汁,幫助分解脂肪。
長期幾乎無油,會令膽汁刺激不足,消化力變慢變弱,連脂溶性維他命吸收都受影響。長期缺油,甚至會阻礙脂溶性神經傳遞物的產生,影響神經訊號。

而中醫認為,膽為奇恆之府,屬少陽,唔單單跟關消化有關,亦主其決斷能力。
膽氣足,人爽快有魄力;膽氣虛,則容易猶豫不決、易驚早醒。

結論係:身體始終需要適量油脂。
重點唔係滴油不沾,而係食乜油、點樣用。

橄欖油、牛油果油脂肪酸結構較穩定,抗氧化物高,適合日常使用。
牛油果油煙點較高,可輕炒;橄欖油則適合中低溫或上碟後加少量提味。
反而煙點低、結構不穩定嘅油,高溫下容易氧化變質,容易產生有害物質。

平時多拍膽經、早啲瞓少捱夜、選擇低糖及含優質蛋白嘅早餐,對養膽利膽亦同樣重要!

養生未必愈清愈好。
過猶不及,唔走極端,
方為上策!

Eating Too Light Can Harm Your Body?”

A friend recovering from stomach flu ate mostly plain congee for two weeks, avoiding all oil, thinking it was healthiest.

Soon, they became jumpy, slept lightly, woke easily, and were indecisive – classic signs of “weak gallbladder energy.”

Western medicine: the gallbladder stores bile to digest fat. No oil → less bile stimulation → slower digestion, poor absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, and even impaired fat-soluble neurotransmitters affecting nerves.

Chinese medicine: the gallbladder governs courage and decision-making. Strong gallbladder energy = confident and decisive; weak = hesitant, anxious, restless.

Conclusion: the body needs moderate healthy fats.
• Olive oil & avocado oil – stable, antioxidant-rich; olive oil for low heat or finishing, avocado oil for light frying.
• Avoid oils that oxidize easily at high heat.

Other tips: massage gallbladder meridian, sleep early, and eat low-sugar, high-quality protein breakfast.

Moderation beats extremes. Too clean isn’t always better.

當糖加熱到大約 160°C 以上,就會開始脫水、裂解,再重新組合。顏色亦由透明變成啡褐,香氣會唔由單純甜味,變得更立體,帶焦香、堅果香,甚至一點微苦。淨係聞到,都已經覺得開胃。

呢種「轉化」,其實好值得研究

喺中醫角度睇:「甘入脾」
甘甜之品可以補中、益氣、和中,對脾胃有滋養作用。但甜味太過,就會生濕、生滯,反而令人覺得膩、無胃口。

所以,用天然糖製作嘅甜品本身能養脾胃,但過甜卻適得其反。
但焦糖化之後,甜味入面多咗一絲微苦。

而「苦入心」
苦味有燥濕、降逆、清泄嘅作用。少少苦,可以收斂過度之甜,減少其壅膩感。當甘中帶苦,反而更醒脾胃。

所以你會發現,微焦嘅年糕,比純甜更容易食多啖;焦糖布丁上面嗰層脆焦,往往係最吸引人嘅地方。

再講「焦香」。

焦香屬火。
五行入面,火生土。脾屬土。

適度嘅火,可以振奮脾陽,幫助運化,所以有「焦香開胃」之說。但火太過,就會變成燥火,耗氣傷津。過苦焦黑,就反而傷脾胃,甚至對身體帶來不良影響。

所以問題唔係可唔可以燒焦,而係燒焦到咩程度。控制好火候:
微焦生香、甘而不膩,
帶苦不烈、醒脾而不傷胃。

懂得收火,凡事留一線,避免太盡。
呢種拿捏,本身就係一種平衡。

The TCM Wisdom Behind Caramelization

When sugar is heated above about 160°C, it dehydrates, breaks down, and recombines. Its color turns brown; its aroma shifts from simple sweetness to layered notes—roasted, nutty, slightly bitter. Even the smell awakens the appetite.

In TCM, sweet enters the Spleen. Sweetness tonifies the middle, boosts qi, and harmonizes digestion. Yet excess sweet creates dampness and stagnation, leading to heaviness and poor appetite.

After caramelization, sweetness carries a hint of bitterness. Bitter enters the Heart. Bitter can dry dampness, descend rebellion, and clear excess. A touch of bitter restrains cloying sweetness, preventing stagnation. Sweet with slight bitter can better stimulate the Spleen and stomach.

That’s why lightly browned rice cake tastes less greasy than pure sweet; the crisp caramel top of crème brûlée is often the most appealing part.

Caramel aroma belongs to Fire. In Five Phases, Fire generates Earth; the Spleen corresponds to Earth. Moderate heat supports Spleen yang and transformation—hence “toasty aroma whets appetite.” But excessive heat becomes drying fire, depleting qi and fluids. Overly burnt, deeply bitter food may harm digestion and health.

The key is degree.
Lightly caramelized—fragrant yet not cloying;
gently bitter—stimulating without injury.

Knowing when to stop the fire, leaving room rather than going to extremes—this is balance.

少食酸嘢,多食溫和食物,幫助脾胃運化。

進階養生:

1.「寧捂勿凍,捂到清明」

春天雖然回暖,但天氣依然反覆、寒潮仍在。此時陽氣初生未固,如果太早著薄衫,則容易外感風寒,傷肺傷脾,從而引發感冒、咳嗽、關節痛等問題

大家應隨每日天氣變化 及進出室內外適當
添衣減衣。此舉雖然比較麻煩,但卻係防止感冒嘅關鍵所在,大家千萬不要掉以輕心,直到四月初清明時節為止。

2.「頭沾濕無可避免,脾安肝康朝氣展」

雨水時節寒暖多變,易擾情志,應當重視精神調攝,保持情緒平穩,避免大怒憂思,以護肝脾。
飲食方面以健脾為主,少酸多甘,少煎炸油膩及生冷,可多食如山藥、百合、春筍等以脾養胃,使氣血足,增強體質令抵抗力上升!

Gentle reminder:

1. Keep warm in spring to protect yang energy
Don’t rush to wear light clothes. Keep warm in the morning and evening to avoid catching a chill.

2. Less sour foods.
Eat fewer sour foods. Choose gentle, warm foods to help the stomach work better.

Advanced Wellness Tips:

1. “Better warm than cold, until Qingming.”
Spring weather changes often. Your body’s energy is still weak. If you wear thin clothes too early, you may catch a cold and get cough or joint pain.
Adjust clothing with daily weather changes, especially when going indoors and outdoors. Keep this habit until early April.

2. “Calm mind, strong digestion.”
Rainy spring days can affect mood. Stay emotionally balanced and avoid anger or overthinking to protect liver.
Eat lightly. Avoid fried, greasy, or cold food. Good choices include Chinese yam, lily bulb, and bamboo to build energy and improve immunity.

喺香港行醫嘅頭十年,有幸能跟隨張醫師學習醫道。
嗰段時間學到嘅,唔單止係醫理,更係作為醫者應有嘅態度。

老師一直強調,要跟從醫聖 張仲景 講嘅「三部俱參」——出自 《傷寒論》

人迎(頸脈)、寸口(手脈)、太溪(腳脈)。

脈診唔單只係摸「有冇跳」,而係透過三個部位互相參照,去理解當刻氣血分佈嘅狀態。
對醫者嚟講,呢啲細節往往係診斷嘅關鍵。

而家日常應診,我主要會以頸脈同手脈互相作為參照。
時間上,可能會多花一啲,但通常都會睇得更全面。

呢套脈法,由香港帶到英國,我一直沿用。
因為始終相信——把《傷寒論》寫明嘅步驟認真做好,診斷自然更準確,對身體狀況嘅理解亦會更深入。

「望、聞、問、切」
本來就係一個拼圖嘅過程。

盡可能整合有用嘅資訊,慢慢抽絲剝繭,搵出真正問題所在。
診斷準確,治療嘅方向同預後自然會更理想。

或者,我都係時候再加深實踐——
重新摸回太溪、趺陽腳脈。

「膨化食物·脆而不養」

先此聲明:依個post我係冒着咗俾大家派嬲嘅風險出嘅!
事關我知有好多朋友都係薯片愛好者~
但我係真心為大家嘅身體著想㗎!

中醫其實好少直接話某樣食物「唔好」,
但對於膨化食物,我可以明確講一句:
香脆好味而無益。

薯片、蝦條🦐呢類零食,我會用三個字嚟形容:脆、乾、空。(當然仲有好味😋😅)

「脾主運化」,負責將食物變成氣血。
但膨化食物屬於高溫炸、極度脫水嘅零食。
由於呢類食物絕大多數幫唔到補充氣血,只有味蕾刺激,所以屬於「有味而無氣,有形而無養」之品。食果陣固然開心,有一時快感,但真的很難說有什麼營養價值。

再加上大部份膨化食物均又油又鹹,
油炸助生熱,若然膽汁分泌差少少,就好容易令積熱上衝,出現口乾、喉嚨痛😫、暗瘡、口苦、生痱滋等情況!

Ryan EC並唔係叫大家一刀切,立刻要同所有彭化食物斷絕來往。偶然放縱一下,食塊薯片獎勵自己係可以嘅,又或者選擇相對健康嘅原味爆谷就更好。但請𧫴記食完之後,飲返杯檸檬水 、山楂茶 、陳皮水 、淡普洱☕️等(視乎時間,普洱茶不建議晚間飲用),幫助消化並補充足夠嘅水份💧,而下一餐食清啲就更好啦!

(利申:EC 本人真係唔會主動開薯片嚟食㗎,不過隔籬嗰個開咗啦喎,咁就勉為其難幫佢分擔一下啦!😅)

Puffed Snacks

Disclaimer first: I’m posting this knowing I might get some side-eye 😤—because I know a lot of you love crisps. But honestly, this comes from caring about your health.

Back to the point.

In Chinese medicine, we rarely label foods as outright “bad.”
But when it comes to puffed snacks, I can say this clearly:
they offer no real benefit and they strain the spleen and digestion.

Crisps, prawn crackers 🦐—these snacks can be summed up in three words: crispy, dry, empty (yes, tasty too).

The spleen is responsible for transforming food into qi and blood.
Puffed snacks are usually high-heat fried and heavily dehydrated. They stimulate the taste buds but do little to feed the body.

They give momentary pleasure, but it’s hard to argue they have real nutritional value.

On top of that, most puffed snacks are oily and salty. Fried foods generate heat, and if bile secretion or digestion is a bit weak, it’s easy to develop symptoms like dry mouth, sore throat 😫, acne, bad breath, or mouth ulcers.

That said, I’m not telling you to cut all puffed snacks out of your life completely. An occasional indulgence as a reward is fine,or pick pop corn as it’s more healthy compared to other snacks.
Just remember to drink plenty of water 💧 afterwards, and keep the next meal lighter and cleaner.

(Disclosure: EC doesn’t usually open a bag of crisps. But if the person next to me does… well, I’ll reluctantly help share the burden 😅.)

就嚟農曆新年,最近又有朋友問Ryan EC 咩賀年糕點啱食?適唔適合自己體質?早兩年寫過一篇相關嘅,喺度SHARE多一次希望幫到大家手啦~

就嚟農曆新年🧧,又到食年糕、蘿蔔糕等糕點嘅時間,寓意新嘅一年能步步高陞之意,但食得多係咪唔健康?想知自己身體啱唔啱食?蘿蔔「破氣」食得多會氣虛?等我哋一齊睇吓~

1. 蘿蔔糕

蘿蔔糕嘅主要成份當然係白蘿蔔啦!
✅其實關於白蘿蔔「破氣」一說,我哋完全誤解啦,白蘿蔔所破嘅係指體內嘅壞氣、邪氣,例如食滯所引起嘅胃脹,以及肝鬱所引致嘅氣頂氣滯。此外,粘米粉亦有健脾養胃、增強記憶以及和五臟嘅作用。所以,蘿蔔糕係好嘢嚟㗎喎!

❌當然,如果加太多臘腸、臘肉則會加重肝膽負荷,就唔係咁健康喇!

2. 年糕

年糕嘅主要成份係蔗糖同糯米粉。
✅蔗糖作為天然糖嘅一份子,有生津潤燥及緩解腹痛嘅作用。而糯米則有益氣生津,健脾嘅作用。

雖然天然蔗糖已經較人造白糖好,有穩定血糖嘅作用,但由於製作年榚用量較多,食太多始終會引起血糖急速上升。都係一件起兩件止啦!☝🏻✌🏻

❌而由於糯米會加劇筋膜之間嘅發炎情況,所以如果本身咁啱整親或者有例如五十肩等問題則不吃為妙喇!

3. 馬蹄糕

✅馬蹄糕嘅主要成份係馬蹄粉(超過八成為澱粉),其次為片糖及白糖,再其次先係馬蹄粒。早在《本草再新》中有記載,馬蹄係有清心降火,補肺涼肝及消食化痰嘅功效。所以咁多種賀年糕之中,Ryan EC自己就最鍾意食馬蹄糕😋,既養生又好食。不過,都係少食多滋味啦!

4. 芋頭糕

✅芋頭係芋頭糕嘅主要材料,芋頭本身具有開胃生津、補氣益腎等功效。所以一般情況來講食一點芋頭糕問題不大。

❌不過,由於芋頭性黏滯,難於消化,容易阻礙脾臟嘅去濕功能。所以,若然本身脾虛消化不良或者有皮膚問題則不宜食用喇,否則會令體內嘅濕毒更難消除,繼而助長濕疹、皮膚發炎嘅情況。
