On Wednesday 12th November 2025, we welcomed 21 women to FWT for our ‘Tea, Tales and Togetherness’ workshop, as part of Coventry . We started with a presentation, followed by poems, activities, competitions, and refreshments.
During the presentation, we had a powerful discussion about “what peace means to you?”, and women shared their ideas and personal thoughts. For our creative activity, every woman attending wrote one word about peace based on their own feelings and understanding. It was an engaging, inclusive, positive, and inspiring event.
We would like to thank Coventry City Council for the additional funding enabling us to rung this event. We’d also like to say a big thanks you to other organisations, including Coventry Women’s Partners, and Panahghar who promoted the event and engaged women.

Our health inequalities projects at FWT are commissioned to provide preventative health support and advice to minority ethnic through Culturally Sensitive and Appropriate approaches. We welcome this medical research from University of Warwick that provides recommendations for Menopause support including recognisng women facing additional barriers. Gendered commissioning and training is vital to support hardest to reach groups.

Who gets the right menopause care? Ethnicity, culture, and income often decide.

Research at Warwick Medical School, funded by NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) is highlighting gaps in care, focusing on inequalities shaped by ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and cultural norms.

“Our findings show that menopause care is not reaching all women equally, for a variety of factors. Future work to improve menopause care within the NHS should include targeted and intersectional health education for both patients and clinicians; especially for women who may want holistic treatment but cannot access this due to the limitations of current consultation frameworks.” - Dr Claire Mann, WMS

Breastfeeding and the environment

🤱Breastfeeding is one of the best ways to protect both our planet’s ecosystems and our health. It helps to ensure food security, has a positive effect on maternal and child health and wellbeing, and is vastly important to our carbon footprint 🌳

Breastmilk environment advantages:
• No food more locally produced or environmentally friendly. A naturally renewable food source
• Breastmilk benefits our environment as it requires no advertising, packaging, or transport and results in no wastage or depletion of natural resources
• No energy is wasted sterilizing bottles and refrigerating them
• Breastmilk is the perfect temperature so there is no need to use energy to heat anything and water and detergent is not usually needed for washing bottles, unless you’re giving your baby expressed breastmilk
• Breastmilk does not create pollution from the manufacturing and disposal of bottles, teats and cans

According to a 2019 study by The Imperial College, London, “Overall, breastfeeding for six months saves an estimated 95-153kg CO2 equivalent per baby compared with formula feeding.

Perimenopause is one of the three stages of menopause. It’s when menopause symptoms start but your periods haven’t stopped.

For many women, these symptoms can affect daily life – from energy and mood to relationships and work.

They can also start earlier for some, which is why recognising the signs and getting support matters.

Menopause will now be part of routine NHS health checks – offered every 5 years to eligible adults aged 40 to 74 – for the first time. By including tailored questions about menopause, more women will be able to get the support they need to manage their symptoms.
